Another three days had passed, and Zhu Hui still hadn’t come to school. Recently, rumors about her death had been spreading like wildfire. Yang Qianfan found these baseless rumors amusing, especially since he had just visited her home. Peering through her window, he saw her up and about, even enjoying a greasy chicken leg. Clearly, she was alive and well, yet this group of people insisted on indulging in their morbid curiosity, spreading falsehoods to cater to the malicious whims of some at school. 0

That morning, the sky was exceptionally clear, with a rainbow halo surrounding the sun, casting a warm glow that felt comforting. A few lazy clouds floated in the sky, their edges neatly trimmed, soft and delicate like down feathers, embodying the trendy puffy aesthetic. 0

Yang Qianfan had eaten something that upset his stomach that morning; it was churning noisily. As soon as he stepped through the school gates, he clutched his stomach and dashed toward the restroom. Upon entering, a foul stench hit him like a wall. Unable to withstand the assault of the odor, he instinctively covered his mouth and nose and retreated from the restroom, feeling nauseous enough that he thought he might vomit up last night’s dinner. Due to plumbing repairs at school the previous day, the restroom was in disarray, with an accumulation of waste that seemed to have made flies thrive overnight. 0

Despite his discomfort, Yang Qianfan hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to endure the humiliation and resolve his issue first. Pinching his nose and closing his eyes, he charged back into the restroom to join the flies. It wasn’t until his stomach settled that he finally relaxed and took a deep breath. Just as he was pulling up his pants, he heard someone singing from the adjacent women’s restroom—an absurd rendition of a song even children wouldn’t sing anymore: "Children's League Song." 0

“Are you ready? Always ready! We are the Chinese Communist Children's League; we will surely be the masters of tomorrow! Dee dee da dee da dee da dee da…” 0

Yang Qianfan couldn’t help but feel a mix of amusement and disbelief at someone singing such a foolish song in the restroom. He muttered to himself about how ridiculous it was for someone to still be singing such outdated lyrics; surely, anyone who did must be a bit dim-witted. Just then, as he exited the men’s room, he bumped into Zhu Hui coming out of the women’s restroom with a bucket and mop in hand, looking as if she had just finished cleaning. 0

“Seeing an enemy makes one particularly irritable,” Zhu Hui’s heart skipped a beat upon seeing Yang Qianfan; her singing abruptly stopped, and her face fell longer than a camel’s. Yang Qianfan felt an unexpected thrill upon seeing her and momentarily forgot about the foul smell in the restroom. 0

“What a coincidence! You finally came to school today,” Yang Qianfan said awkwardly with a hesitant smile. 0

“How unfortunate! I just arrived and ran into you—what bad luck,” Zhu Hui scoffed at him. 0

“Hey! Is it really that unlucky to see me?” Yang Qianfan retorted as her sour expression began to irritate him. 0

“Absolutely! The smell from cleaning the restroom only affected my sense of smell; now that I see you, it’s affecting my taste too.” 0

“What do you mean by that?” Yang Qianfan exploded in frustration. 0

"You're really annoying, you idiot," Zhu Hui shot him a fierce glare, twisting the bucket and mop in her hands as she turned to leave. 0

"Come back here!" Yang Qianfan, seeing her arrogant demeanor, was so furious that he felt like he could dismantle her bone by bone and grind them into dust. 0
