Only Tang Hui remained seated, quietly facing the evening breeze, gazing at the flowing river before him and the twinkling stars above, which seemed to respond to each other in a harmonious dance. He admired the two neon light strips on the Yangtze River Bridge, dreamily reflecting on the horizon, their vibrant colors embellishing the Turtle and Snake Mountains in a more splendid manner. 0

"Is there something you need?" Tang Hui asked. 0

"Of course! Who would come looking for you if there was nothing?" Xiao Yang shot him a habitual glare. 0

"What is it? I'm all ears," Tang Hui inquired politely. 0

Xiao Yang glanced around nervously, ensuring no one was watching, before confidently striding up to Tang Hui. She pulled out a stack of red bills from her bag, flaunting them as she shook them slightly. From that stack, she extracted six bills and handed them to him with a cold tone, "This six hundred is to repay you for the medical expenses you covered for me last time. Now we owe each other nothing." 0

Tang Hui took the money and glanced at it before replying bluntly, "You are indeed very trustworthy, but I didn't actually spend 600 yuan on your medical fees last time; it was only 57.45 yuan. And I don’t have my wallet with me today, so I can’t give you change." 0

"Forget about the change; consider the leftover money as a reward for you!" Xiao Yang said nonchalantly. 0

"I didn’t save you for your reward, so I have no interest in your compensation," Tang Hui replied coldly. He folded the money in his hand and tossed it all into her arms before turning to leave. 0

"Hey, I was just joking! Why take it so seriously? You have no sense of humor," Xiao Yang complained from behind him. 0

"But I really don’t have any money to give you," Tang Hui turned back. 0

"Are you made of wood? So stiff," Xiao Yang frowned for a moment before suggesting, "How about this: I'll just return you 500 yuan, and the remaining 7.45 yuan can be my treat for a meal. That way, we’ll be even. What do you think?" 0

Tang Hui pondered her suggestion and found it reasonable enough, nodding in agreement as they headed off together. 0

After they finished dinner, the last trace of twilight faded away alongside the setting sun into the vast night sky. They didn’t rush to part ways but chose instead to sit on a patch of ground by the Yangtze River, gazing at the starry sky and enjoying the refreshing evening breeze. The stars over Wuhan were always so enchanting. Their beauty was hazy yet filled with a comforting serenity. 0

"I love nights like this; it doesn’t matter if there’s no moon, but there absolutely must be stars," Xiao Yang said as she closed her eyes against the wind, a look of pure enjoyment on her face. 0

"Don’t you like the moon? It has always been more famous than the stars throughout history," Tang Hui remarked. 0

"The moon is indeed beautiful, but its beauty is too lonely—almost sickeningly so," she replied with a melancholic smile, a hint of sadness creeping into her expression. 0

Tang Hui shook his head, dismissing her viewpoint. "People admire the beauty of the moon precisely because it is unique, just like the sun." 0

"I don't like the moon any more than I like myself," Xiao Yang replied, turning to him with a radiant smile, as if revealing her true feelings. 0

"If you don't even like yourself, why not try to change a little?" 0

"I do want to change, but the problem is that I don't even know what I want to become. This is probably what life is all about—it's always filled with uncertainties that make people hesitate and feel lost." Xiao Yang lowered her head and smiled at her own reflection with a hint of self-pity. 0

"The moon has never hesitated about its changes; whether it becomes waning or full, its brilliance will always be celebrated. What people dislike are merely the clouds that obscure it," Tang Hui said. 0

"So you're saying that those who wander through life are destined to become victims of fate, right?" 0

"Exactly. Those who hesitate are most likely to fall into the trap of indulgence, fearing that the sun won't rise on time and that heavy rain might suddenly pour down on their unprepared heads, leaving them insecure about the future." 0

"I never expected you to be so insightful," Xiao Yang shrugged and scoffed at him. 0

"Unfortunately, these words aren't mine; they were often used by a friend of mine to scold me," Tang Hui admitted candidly. 0

"Coming from your friend? It must be Zhu Hui. Her eloquence is well-known; it's beyond what mere admiration can describe. I've experienced it firsthand. In comparison, I feel completely outmatched," Xiao Yang said casually. Just thinking about Zhu Hui made her feel trapped in a dead end, inexplicably self-conscious. 0

Tang Hui smiled at her thoughtfully. "She's very smart. Spending too much time with her often makes you feel quite foolish." 0

"Oh really? Do you ever feel foolish yourself?" 0

Tang Hui smiled at her but did not answer. 0

"Do you have a girlfriend?" Xiao Yang suddenly asked. 0

At her question, Tang Hui couldn't help but chuckle and shook his head with a sigh. 0

"Then do you have someone you like?" 0

“Do I really need to answer that question?” 0

“You don’t have to, but your eyes have already told me your answer.” 0

Tang Hui remained silent, still smiling, as he watched a luxurious cruise ship sail past him. 0

“Who is the person you like? Is it Zhu Hui?” Xiao Yang couldn’t help her curiosity and asked again, gossiping. 0

“I have the right to refuse to answer that question.” 0

“You can refuse, but I can tell from your tone that I already know the answer. You like her, and you like her a lot, don’t you?” Xiao Yang was convinced of her guess. 0

“Your imagination is quite rich,” Tang Hui said dismissively, giving her a cold glance. 0

“If you like her, why don’t you confess your feelings?” Xiao Yang asked in confusion. 0

“Hey, it’s you who assumes I like her. I’ve never said that I do,” Tang Hui replied impatiently. 0

“Are you even a man? Is it really that difficult to express your feelings for a girl you like?” Xiao Yang became animated, taking on the role of an experienced mentor. 0

“You’re so nosy. Do you have to pair me with her for your own satisfaction?” 0

“Of course! Because I love seeing things come together, especially love,” Xiao Yang said with a silly grin. 0

Tang Hui gazed at her intently for a long time. 0

“Why are you staring at me like that? Is there something on my face?” Xiao Yang asked in confusion, repeatedly wiping her face with her hands. 0

“There is something on your face, but it’s not dirt,” Tang Hui smiled slightly at her. 0

“If it’s not dirt, then what is it?” Xiao Yang was even more puzzled. 0

“It’s the truth that a 17-year-old girl should have.” 0

Xiao Yang felt her face flush upon hearing this. She quickly lowered her head, feeling as awkward as if she were sitting on pins and needles, completely uncomfortable. 0

“Changing yourself into someone you like isn’t really that hard, is it?” Tang Hui said, looking up at the bright moon hanging in the sky. 0

“Who told you I like the real me? Let me tell you, I hate it when people use the word ‘real’ to describe me because it’s just a sign of stupidity.” Xiao Yang’s expression changed abruptly, catching everyone off guard. She shot Tang Hui a fierce glare, stood up from the ground, brushed off the dust from her pants, and angrily turned to leave. 0

“Hey—” Tang Hui remained seated on the ground and calmly called out to her from behind. 0

“Why are you calling me? We have nothing in common; there’s nothing good between us,” Xiao Yang replied coldly. 0

“That job isn’t suitable for you. Don’t you want to find a job that truly satisfies you?” 0

“Who do you think you are? How can you be so sure that I’m not satisfied with my current job? Let me tell you, as long as it makes me a lot of money, I’m satisfied. Someone like you wouldn’t understand,” Xiao Yang scoffed, rolling her eyes at him in disdain before turning and running away in anger. 0
