Chu Yuning's consciousness gradually awakened in a haze. It felt as if her body had been torn apart and reassembled, every inch of her skin carrying a strange sensation. 0

When she opened her eyes, a desolate landscape unfolded before her. The withered grass swayed in the wind, and the distant cawing of crows echoed through the air. 0

She tried to remember who she was but could only grasp fleeting fragments—a massive shadow of a serpent, a stormy sky filled with lightning, and the heart-wrenching pain that accompanied it. 0

Looking down at her hands, she saw slender fingers that resembled those of a human, yet deep within her soul lingered an indescribable sense of alienation. 0

She stood up, feeling a slight tremor beneath her feet. 0

Her body seemed much lighter than she remembered, yet an unfamiliar power surged within her, like something that did not belong to her coursing through her veins. 0

Furrowing her brow, she attempted to clear her thoughts but found herself unable to recall even her name. 0

All she knew was that she had once been a powerful serpent demon, but why she had transformed into this current state remained a blank slate. 0

A low groan from afar interrupted her thoughts. 0

Following the sound, she spotted a man lying in the grass not far away. A deep wound on his leg exposed bone, blood staining the ground around him. 0

The man struggled to rise but collapsed again due to the pain. 0

His gaze met Chu Yuning's, surprise flickering in his eyes before it shifted to one of pleading. 0

"Miss... please help me..." His voice was weak yet carried an undeniable firmness that demanded attention. 0

Chu Yuning stood rooted in place, a wave of conflict rising within her. Instinctively, she wanted to distance herself from this human, yet the man's gaze held her feet captive. 0

She took a few steps closer, crouching down to examine his wound closely. The injury was deep, as if torn by the claws of some wild beast. 0

She reached out her hand, her fingertips gently touching the edge of the wound. A warm force surged from within her, and to her astonishment, the wound began to heal at a visible speed. 0

The man widened his eyes, staring incredulously at his leg. "Are you... a celestial being?" His voice carried a tone of reverence. 0

Chu Yuning did not answer. She withdrew her hand, a wave of unease rising within her. She had never encountered such power before and had no idea where it came from. 0

Standing up, she took a few steps back to create distance between herself and the man. 0

"Thank you..." The man struggled to stand, tentatively taking a few steps and discovering that his leg had returned to normal. 0

He looked at Chu Yuning, curiosity flickering in his eyes. "My name is Li Qingshan; I am a hunter from these mountains. Miss, what brings you alone to this desolate place?" 0

Chu Yuning hesitated for a moment before shaking her head. "I don't remember." 0

Li Qingshan paused for a moment, then broke into a gentle smile. "Then why not come back to my village with me? There are many wild beasts in these mountains; it's not safe for you alone." 0

After a moment's hesitation, Chu Yuning finally nodded. 0

She wasn't sure why she agreed; perhaps it was Li Qingshan's kindness that offered her a sense of security, or maybe it was a deep-seated curiosity about humanity. 0

The two walked in silence along the rugged mountain path until they arrived at a secluded valley. 0

Nestled within the valley was a small village, with several simple wooden houses scattered harmoniously at the foot of the mountain. 0

At the village entrance, a few children were playing. When they saw Li Qingshan return, they all ran over to greet him. 0

"Uncle Qingshan, you're back!" a boy shouted excitedly, his gaze lingering on Chu Yuning, filled with curiosity. 0

Li Qingshan smiled and ruffled the boy's hair, then turned to Chu Yuning and said, "This is my home; you can rest here for a while." 0

Chu Yuning stepped inside the house and looked around. The interior was simply furnished but neatly organized. She sat on a wooden chair, yet her heart was anything but calm. 0

She stared at her hands, feeling the strange power still surging within her. 0

Li Qingshan brought over a bowl of hot soup and placed it in front of her. "Have some; it'll warm you up." 0

Chu Yuning took the bowl but didn't drink immediately. 0

She looked up at Li Qingshan, a hint of confusion in her eyes. "Aren't you... afraid of me?" 0

Li Qingshan paused for a moment before laughing. "Afraid of you? You saved my life; I couldn't be more grateful." 0

Chu Yuning lowered her head and fell silent. She took a sip of the soup; the warm liquid slid down her throat but did nothing to dispel the chill in her heart. 0

As night fell, the village gradually quieted down. 0

Chu Yuning stood by the window, gazing at the distant mountain shadows, yet her heart remained restless. 0

She had no idea why she was here or who she truly was. 0

She only remembered that she had once been Chu Yuning, but now she was no different from a human. 0

Suddenly, a commotion arose in the village. 0

Chu Yuning stepped out of her house and saw the villagers gathered at the entrance, their faces filled with panic. Li Qingshan rushed over, his expression grave. 0

"Something has happened," he said in a low voice. " old man Wang at the east end of the village is dead, and the circumstances are very strange." 0

A tightness gripped Chu Yuning's heart as she followed Li Qingshan to old man Wang's home. 0

Inside, chaos reigned. old man Wang's body lay on the floor, his face frozen in terror, a deep bite mark visible on his neck. 0

"It was a monster!" one villager trembled as he spoke. "It must have been a monster!" 0

Chu Yuning stood among the crowd, feeling a chill rise up her spine that made her shiver involuntarily. 0

"Miss, what's wrong?" Li Qingshan's voice pulled her back to reality. 0

Chu Yuning shook her head and forced a faint smile. "I'm fine." She turned to leave the crowd. 0

But before that, she needed to figure out who she truly was and why she had been reborn in this unfamiliar land. 0

As night fell, Chu Yuning stood at the village entrance, gazing at the distant mountain shadows, a complex wave of emotions surging within her. 0
