"Actually, this White is quite nice. At least he’s the best man I’ve met so far, much better looking than those Huaxia people," Alice murmured to herself, trying to comfort her thoughts. After a moment, she decided to call Mary. With Mary around, she felt a bit more at ease. Being alone with White made her feel strange; it was uncomfortable to be with someone she didn’t like.
That night, in a bar in Beverly Hills.
White had been feeling quite frustrated over the past few months. He thought his charm would be enough to win Alice over, but to his dismay, months had passed and he had barely reached the foot of the mountain that was Alice, with the peak still far out of reach.
At first, White found Alice unique and very attractive, but as time went on, his patience began to wear thin. After all, he only had six months; if he couldn’t win her heart by then, he would settle for an engagement. It didn’t matter if he couldn’t have her love; having her body would suffice.
"Alice, what do you need?" White asked directly upon seeing her.
"I do have something to discuss. My grandfather wants to meet you tomorrow; he wants you to take him to see your master," Alice replied.
"Why does he want to see my master?" White asked, slightly taken aback.
"Well, my grandfather knows a Huaxia person who claims that your Hongmen owes him money. He wants to meet someone from Hongmen," Alice explained. She wouldn’t mention that Jiang Chen was her grandfather’s master; that would be too embarrassing for the Delson Family.
"What? We owe money?" Both White and Mary reacted strongly.
"That’s what he said," Alice confirmed.
"That’s impossible! Others owe us money; how could we owe anyone else, especially a Huaxia person?" White said incredulously.
"I don’t know about that. Anyway, since my grandfather said so, you should take us to see your master tomorrow," Alice insisted.
"My master isn’t someone you can just meet whenever you want," White said seriously.
"Isn’t my grandfather allowed?" Alice asked, somewhat dissatisfied.
"Of course your grandfather can meet him, but that Huaxia person doesn’t have the right. However, I can make an exception for you and let him come along," White replied.
"Thank you, White. Once tomorrow's meeting is over, I can agree to be your girlfriend," Alice suddenly said after a pause.
She had thought this through carefully.
"Really?" White exclaimed with joy.
"Of course it’s true. I believe I’m making the right choice," Alice said. In truth, she was a bit upset with her grandfather; after all, she thought White was far superior to Jiang Chen. Yet her grandfather insisted she please that Huaxia person, which made Alice very resistant.
"Congratulations, Brother White! Can I join in on the fun tomorrow?" Mary chimed in with a smile.
"Of course! Let’s all go together. I’ve already mentioned you to my master. Although he hasn’t explicitly agreed to take you as a disciple, he clearly appreciates you from the way he spoke about you. Just perform well when you meet him tomorrow; who knows? He might just decide to take you under his wing," White said with a grin.
"That sounds perfect!" Mary replied cheerfully.
"Sister Mary, don’t you already have a master?" Alice asked curiously upon hearing their conversation.
