After the first class at Tooth School, Little Tooth was filled with anticipation and curiosity. Although it had gained a preliminary understanding of Tooth School, the next lesson truly revealed the wonders and dangers that lay ahead.
On this day, Shining Tooth announced an important message: "Today, we will have a 'Tooth Challenge.' This is not just a test of your skills; it is also a trial of your courage."
The entire class fell silent, their faces reflecting a mix of tension and excitement. Little Tooth clenched its small body, its heart racing. Although it didn’t fully understand what this "Tooth Challenge" entailed, it knew that it signified an upcoming adventure.
"You will each complete a Challenge independently," Shining Tooth continued. "Your task is to navigate through a series of obstacles that will test your performance in different situations."
"This Challenge requires you to face a hard object, successfully chew and process it, proving that you have mastered the basic skills of teeth."
Little Tooth's eyes widened as it stared at the teacher, feeling a shiver run down its spine. "Are we going to face something dangerous?"
"Don't worry," Shining Tooth seemed to see through Little Tooth's thoughts. "As long as you stay calm, any difficulty can be overcome."
However, Little Tooth's anxiety did not ease with the teacher's words. As it walked out of the classroom, it thought to itself, "Can I really do this? What kind of obstacle awaits us?"
"Don't be afraid, Little Tooth!" Suddenly, Dogtooth Leader approached. "We've all been through this Challenge before; it's not too scary. Remember, staying calm and being careful are the most important things."
Seeing Dogtooth Leader's confidence helped Little Tooth feel slightly more at ease, but it still couldn't fully relax.
Soon after, they arrived at the location for the Challenge: the laboratory at Tooth School. This laboratory was unlike an ordinary classroom; it was filled with various props and materials. In the center stood a large table piled high with all sorts of hard foods, next to which was a gigantic transparent box containing a piece of what looked like an extremely hard Ingredient.
"Alright, everyone gather around," Shining Tooth's voice echoed in the laboratory. "This is your Challenge task. You need to bite off a piece from this Ingredient. Those who successfully complete the task will receive a Challenge reward."
Little Tooth approached the table and saw the enormous hard object, feeling its heart tighten immediately. It observed carefully; the surface of the Ingredient resembled a solid ice block, covered with a thick shell that concealed unknown secrets within.
"Is this... rock candy?" Little Tooth asked uncertainly.
"That's right," Shining Tooth nodded. "This piece of rock candy has been specially treated; the outer layer is hard, but the inside is very soft. Your task is to break through the outer layer and extract the inner part of the candy."
Little Tooth took a deep breath, picked up a tool, and began to try biting into the rock candy. However, its teeth did not penetrate the outer layer; instead, it felt a dull pain.
"Ouch, that hurts!" Little Tooth muttered.
"Don't rush, just relax," Dogtooth Leader said as he walked over and gently patted its back. "The outer layer of this rock candy is designed specifically to test your patience and skill. Remember, impulsiveness won't solve the problem."
Little Tooth nodded, took a deep breath, and adjusted its posture. This time, it didn't start with force; instead, it carefully observed, looking for the right angle. Suddenly, it noticed that although the outer layer was hard, it wasn't uniform; there was a tiny crack in one spot.
"Little Tooth, focus!" Dogtooth Leader called out.
Little Tooth bit down on the crack with determination. After several attempts, it finally felt some give. It bit down harder and successfully broke through the outer layer, revealing the soft interior.
"Great job! You did it!" Shining Tooth smiled with satisfaction. "This is a test of whether you can use your skills to solve problems. Calmness, precision, and patience are key to overcoming difficulties."
Little Tooth finally sighed in relief, feeling a surge of pride and confidence. It had successfully completed the Challenge, proving that it wasn't as fragile as it had once thought.
However, this was not the end. Once all the classmates had completed their Challenge, Shining Tooth announced, "Alright, everyone has finished their task. But now we are moving on to the next phase of the Challenge—team cooperation."
All the classmates were taken aback. "Team cooperation?" Little Tooth asked in confusion.
"Yes, next you will form groups to face a greater challenge," Shining Tooth said, his expression turning serious. "You will encounter a more complex food item, and only through teamwork can you successfully overcome it."
This time, Little Tooth, Dogtooth Leader, and the other classmates formed a group to tackle a massive nut. The shell of the nut was exceptionally hard, and it was impossible to break it open with just one person's strength.
"Let's divide our tasks!" Dogtooth Leader stepped forward first. "I will tear apart the shell while you all handle the inner layer."
Little Tooth felt a bit nervous but quickly understood that cooperation was the key to success. It bit down hard on the inside of the nut, gradually grinding it into smaller pieces. Meanwhile, Dogtooth Leader used his sharp Canine Tooth to rip open the outer layer, while the other classmates worked together according to their assigned tasks.
After much effort, they finally succeeded in completely processing the nut.
"Fantastic! What great teamwork!" Shining Tooth applauded. "You all did exceptionally well. Today, not only did you push past your individual limits, but you also learned how to collaborate with others. Remember, teeth are not just individuals; they are part of a whole. Only through harmonious cooperation can you achieve ultimate victory."
Little Tooth panted, filled with emotion. "So it turns out that only through teamwork can we truly solve difficulties."
Dogtooth Leader smiled and patted him on the back. "You did well, Little Tooth. Today you learned the most important lesson—cooperation and perseverance."
