Yun Zhi Yue's gaze was as piercing as if she were watching a pile of money being thrown away.
"I've only been suspended for a month; it's not like I'm going bankrupt. What kind of vicious supporting role are you trying to play? Do you want me to help you practice for your acting career?"
The assistant, Tao Xin, quickly lowered her head, stifling a laugh, fearing that if she laughed out loud, Han Ling would hold a grudge against her.
The resentment in Han Ling's eyes seemed sharp enough to pierce through Yun Zhi Yue. If one didn’t know better, they might think she had done something terrible to this woman, but in reality, they were complete strangers.
"Yun Zhi Yue, you accepted that role in Lian Zong, didn't you? Do you know why they insisted on you?"
Seeing Han Ling's smug expression, Yun Zhi Yue understood: it was a show sponsored by the Han family. Did she want to meet Nie Yi?
"Right. Don't even think about breaching the contract again. The penalty for this month's breach is already enough to land you in massive debt. Perhaps out of consideration for Nie Yi, everyone has been lenient so far, but if you continue to breach the contract, I won’t demand your penalty fee; I will make sure to blacklist you completely. You can figure it out yourself."
Han Ling sneered and left, her back radiating the kind of aura that screamed 'Empress.'
Yun Zhi Yue silently watched her leave and thought that this girl really had a knack for drama; if she continued in the acting world, her career would surely flourish.
Her manager, Yao Li, frowned. "Yun Zhi Yue, what should we do? Are we really going to invite Nie Zong? If it doesn't work out, just bow your head."
These partners were indeed giving her face by not pursuing the matter further. Her commercial value played a part in it, but it was likely that someone had spoken up for her; Nie Zong didn’t intend to corner her completely.
"Heh!" Yun Zhi Yue chuckled softly. "Sister Li, you really don’t understand Nie Yi. Once he decides to act, he won’t hold back; these people are not ones he warns lightly."
Yao Li was surprised. "Who is it? There aren't many with that kind of power."
Yun Zhi Yue smiled playfully. "Someone who has a crush on me."
Yao Li shot her an exasperated look, thinking she was about to be hit with another harsh reality check, but unexpectedly, this girl’s ability to handle pressure had grown stronger. Even her demeanor seemed warmer; she could even joke around with her now.
After sharing her thoughts with Yao Li and realizing it was rare for her to return home early, inviting Nie Yi was out of the question; she didn’t want to seek trouble for herself. The client’s request was simply for a domineering CEO to garner attention; they hadn’t specifically named Nie Yi. She just needed to invite someone they wouldn’t be pleased with but couldn’t refuse.
Jian Qin returned home from work and immediately smelled a rich aroma of food along with the cheerful laughter of two sisters. It felt somewhat warm at home since Yun Zhi Yue had moved back in.
With no work commitments, Yun Zhi Yue wasn’t just coming back on weekends anymore; she had been living here for a month now, and Jian Qin was starting to get used to it.
"You're back!" Jian Shu exclaimed. "Yun Zhi Yue and I have prepared something delicious for you. Hurry and change your clothes before coming downstairs to taste it!" Yun Xiaoxiao chimed in happily while holding a plate of dishes.
Before going upstairs, Jian Qin glanced at Yun Zhi Yue: "Is there no ulterior motive behind your kindness?"
"Is it not a scheme or a theft? Yun Zhi Yue, is that what you mean? I’m just saying it’s you!" Yun Xiaoxiao exclaimed in surprise.
Yun Zhi Yue was at a loss for words; this sister always left her feeling flustered. They were discussing variety shows, and wasn’t this just a deliberate attempt to play the innocent?
When Jian Qin came downstairs again, the dining room was filled with food, though its presentation was far from appealing.
Gray, purple, blue, red—did you all mistake paint for seasoning? Will my kitchen still be able to make breakfast tomorrow?
The two sisters exchanged awkward glances and pulled out a plate of dishes and a bowl of rice from under the table. At least it looked normal.
Yun Xiaoxiao forced a smile: "Jian Shu, those were meant to stimulate your appetite; this is the actual meal."
Egg fried rice and scrambled eggs? Not bad, it added another shade of yellow.
