For some reason, I couldn't feel any joy.
Yun Zhi Yue's hand had already returned to normal under Shengxi Guo's treatment. Mo Li Ran loved nothing more than to hold her hand tightly, engaging in a bit of playful intimacy.
In this dimension, the lifespan of beastmen was not very long, comparable to that of humans, or even shorter. Mo Li Ran had only held the position of Beast King for five terms, not because he was defeated; in fact, during his fifth challenge for the title, no one stepped forward to contest him. It was partly due to strength and partly due to respect.
However, Mo Li Ran did not wish to bear any responsibility. If it weren't for his desire to reclaim her, he would never have aimed for the position of Beast King. When the time came, he swiftly abdicated and handed the title over to Chuan Yi.
He took her away from the Serpent Clan, planning to explore the entire Azure Tower Continent in search of the human world that Chuan Yi had once encountered. Mo Li Ran had awakened his ice affinity and was unafraid of the harsh winter; with the Immortal Phoenix Fire Stone on him, he could completely withstand the severe cold. There should be nothing in Qing Tower that could hinder their journey.
Her body was temporarily fabricated from the Reincarnation Stone and did not possess any reproductive capabilities. In this lifetime, they had no young ones, but there were no regrets; their relationship remained strong.
They did have their quarrels, mostly instigated by her unreasonable antics, with Mo Li Ran indulging her mischievousness. Yet, when she expressed joy, he would playfully make her cry.
The Azure Tower Continent was vast; after several days of travel, they had not explored it all. They still had not encountered the human world that Chuan Yi spoke of but instead came across the Chuan Shi Beast Tribe.
They managed to send a message to Chuan Yi about whether or not to return; that was a matter for the Chuan Jia Brothers. The two initially thought they would grow old together while enjoying their time in Qing Tower, but reality dealt them a harsh blow.
This dimension was far more dangerous than they had anticipated. While Mo Li Ran might be strong, he remained powerless against nature.
One particularly harsh winter arrived unexpectedly; they paid it little mind and continued to admire the snowy scenery. However, the extreme cold broke through Mo Li Ran's ice affinity and her fire stone. As it spread through their bodies, both of them—now older—exchanged awkward glances, realizing they had been careless.
It was evident that this winter was unlike any other; they could barely withstand it. Forget about other beastmen; during this disaster, who knew how many would survive?
Survival of the fittest was no longer something they could control. When the merciless winter claimed their lives, neither felt pain or regret—only a sense of reluctance.
Yet they would inevitably meet again.
In a world blanketed by ice blue, two ice sculptures stood together with their fingers intertwined, perfectly blending into the winter scenery. Snowflakes danced and twirled as they fell upon the sculptures' heads and shoulders, softening the landscape.
Before entering the dimension, the Reincarnation Stone couldn't help but ask: "What is that thing from the heavenly realm? What is its identity?"
Yun Zhi Yue feigned ignorance, "I don't know."
The Reincarnation Stone replied, "Just keep pretending. Let me tell you, if you decide to cut ties, do it cleanly. Otherwise, I worry about what might happen to you in the future."
Yun Zhi Yue's gaze flickered. The future? Heh, this broken stone thinks too much. She had never considered developing feelings outside of her target.
"Forget it. I can't manage your affairs. The next dimension is a bit special; it's a game world where strange phenomena occur."
