Looking at the electronic watch on her wrist, which resembled more of a toy, she realized it was time to clock out. After tidying up the trash cart and changing her clothes, Yun Zhi Yue switched to another restaurant.
Three dishes and a soup, a mix of meat and vegetables, cost her five yuan, which was a bit beyond her budget. Her daily wage was around thirty yuan, meaning she had lost over ten yuan today.
Oh well, since this was part of her target strategy, and she still had some savings, it should be enough for meals.
Carrying the takeout box to the hospital, she politely knocked on the door. Upon hearing Nie Xi's invitation to enter, she pushed the door open.
Three pairs of eyes turned to look at her simultaneously. Yun Zhi Yue paused for a moment but then stepped inside as if nothing had happened.
Dressed in the simplest t-shirt and jeans with white sneakers, her hair tied up in a simple bun, her outfit didn’t cost more than fifty yuan. Yet, under the scrutinizing gaze of those in higher positions, she acted as if she were oblivious.
She set up the meal tray beside the hospital bed and placed the packed food one by one.
“Today you can eat by yourself. Someone is here to see you; I’ll take my leave now.”
“Don’t go, sister!” As soon as Nie Xi spoke, Yun Zhi Yue felt a tight grip on her wrist as she was yanked to the edge of the bed and bumped against it.
“Ouch.” Yun Zhi Yue covered her waist and cursed inwardly; it hurt so much yet Nie Xi still pulled with such force.
In the next moment, another hand began to knead her waist.
“Are you okay, sister?” Nie Xi exclaimed in panic. “I just got anxious; I didn’t mean to do that. Does it still hurt? Do you need me to call a doctor?”
Yun Zhi Yue stared at Nie Xi’s overly mischievous expression and didn’t resist being groped. She replied indifferently, “Do you want to reach in and touch?”
Nie Xi’s eyes sparkled with excitement at her words, her pure face lighting up with a smile that made her look like an angel who had fallen from heaven: “Really? You’re so nice, sister.”
The transition from angel to devil was seamless as Nie Xi’s mischievous hand lifted up her shirt at the waist but was firmly grasped by Su Shou.
Then came a sharp slap across the face—this was still reality.
Yun Zhi Yue retrieved her own portion of food that she had brought along and received another slap from Nie Xi. The temporarily normal Nie Xi set up her utensils.
“Hurry up and eat; I didn’t have lunch and I’m starving.”
Nie Xi picked up her chopsticks and obediently began eating. “Why didn’t you eat? Didn’t you have a break during lunch?”
Yun Zhi Yue replied irritably, “I ran into someone just like you who carelessly tossed sunflower seed shells everywhere. When I asked him to pick them up, he refused, and we ended up arguing until I was too worked up.”
Nie Xi became intrigued. “What happened next?”
Heh, later he couldn't argue with me anymore. The crowd around us grew larger, and in his embarrassment and anger, he said that what could a street sweeper like me do to him? He even flaunted his luxury car worth a hundred thousand.
Nie Xi was incredibly curious: "How did you handle it, sister?"
I told him to wait for a moment, went home, and drove out my own car worth a hundred thousand. After that, he obediently got out of his car to pick it up. However, because of this incident, I missed my lunch and had to work on an empty stomach.
"Hahaha, sister, you're amazing!" Nie Xi laughed heartily, like the dark clouds in the sky finally being pierced by a ray of sunlight. At least in that moment, her laughter was genuine.
Yun Zhi Yue also curled the corners of her mouth upward and picked up a piece of Stir-Fried Vegetables with Beef for Nie Xi using her own chopsticks.
