It was nothing. Even though the strategy level was invisible, it was still the target of pursuit. Without stopping, a shimmering hand reached out.
Nie Xi's red eyes sparkled with laughter as she quickly ran over and wrapped her arms around Yun Zhi Yue's bare arms that were exposed outside her dress, walking alongside her. She wished her hands were big enough to completely envelop Yun Zhi Yue's arm. After realizing that wasn't possible, she possessively hugged it to her chest.
Yun Zhi Yue thought to herself that this action felt awkward, creating a sense of role reversal between them. Behind them, Yun Shijiu couldn't help but twitch his eyelids, unable to bear the sight.
Yun Yue Shi, however, seemed lost in thought, weighed down by some concerns. Cheng Si felt a twitch in his eyelids as well; nothing mattered more than his grandson being alive. This realization filled him with a bit of pride. His grandson could endure anything; who could compare? It was a solid fact.
The three siblings, along with the stubbornly following Nie Xi, made their way home as a group of four. Nie Xi insisted on staying with them.
Yun Shijiu scoffed, "It's fine in Yuan Cheng since you had no one to look after you there, but now that we're in the capital—your childhood home—what does it mean for you not to be at your own house?"
Nie Xi clung to Yun Zhi Yue's waist with a pitiful expression. "Yue Yue, I don’t want my family to arrange for me to meet Bai Linglong. I don’t want to marry her."
Nie Zhui only wanted revenge because he knew how much she liked him. Bai Linglong was meant for Second Uncle, and now it had turned into me marrying her. Bai Linglong knows about my illness; she must be forced into this situation.
He really went too far, using such despicable means to threaten an innocent girl just to get back at us. Sister, you must stay away from someone like Nie Zhui.
Yun Zhi Yue sneered, "Even if I wanted to get close, I’d need your permission first. Today, Nie Zhui barely acknowledged me; you played a significant role in that, didn’t you?"
Nie Xi was taken aback. "Yue Yue, what are you talking about? I said I wouldn’t interfere with your matters; why don’t you believe me?"
With a mocking smile left behind, Yun Zhi Yue intended to head upstairs but paused before the dazed Yue Shi.
She gently touched Yue Shi’s head with concern. "What’s wrong? You seem lost in thought today. Do you want to come upstairs and talk about it?"
Yue Shi suddenly reached out and hugged Yun Zhi Yue tightly, resting his head against her soft waist and closing his eyes.
"No need. Just let me hold you for a while."
Yun Zhi Yue didn’t press further; she understood that Yue Shi was mature enough not to delve into topics he didn’t want to discuss. Even siblings needed their own space.
She soothingly patted Yue Shi’s back, silently affirming her presence beside him.
After two minutes had passed, Yue Shi finally released her and walked towards the upstairs room. Yun Shijiu wanted to make a sarcastic remark but obediently kept quiet under Yun Zhi Yue’s sharp glare.
When only Yun Zhi Yue and Nie Xi remained in the living room, Nie Xi immediately became restless. He pushed her down onto the sofa and kissed her red lips without any hesitation, claiming the unique scent that belonged to Yun Zhi Yue.
With a deep kiss that pulled at the strings of desire, Nie Xi whispered in her ear, "Yue Yue, I miss you. Shall we go to our room?"
Yun Zhi Yue maintained a blank expression, like someone who was indifferent to intimacy. "I don't want to," she replied.
However, when a woman says she doesn't want to, it often means the opposite. I understood the hint in Yue Yue's words. Without another word, he swept her up in his arms and carried her upstairs, showing no signs of weakness at all.
