As soon as she entered the room, her gown was torn apart.
Yun Zhi Yue raised her hand to shield herself, fuming, "Nie Xi, stop pretending to be innocent. I told you to stay out of my affairs, and look at you now—balding already! You think you can take advantage of me? Dream on!"
"Yue Yue, I'm sorry! I really didn't want to say anything, but Nie Zhui keeps provoking me. I'm practically at my wit's end; am I not allowed to vent a little?"
Yun Zhi Yue was momentarily taken aback. Was she being too harsh?
Dodging Nie Xi's reaching hand, she observed his agile movements and scoffed, "You don't look like you're dying at all. Yue Shi helped you out, right? So stop using your health as an excuse!"
Mentioning illness sparked an idea in Nie Xi. He collapsed onto the carpet, feigning weakness and discomfort.
Yun Zhi Yue shot him a sidelong glance. "What are you pretending for? Do you think I'll fall for it? Get up quickly; just looking at you annoys me."
With that, she ignored Nie Xi and decided to strip off her damaged gown. She slipped into a nightgown and climbed onto the bed, turning her back to Nie Xi on the floor.
Ten minutes later, there was still no movement from him.
Yun Zhi Yue's gaze flickered slightly. Was he really that patient? Or was he genuinely unwell?
After a minute of silence, she couldn't hold back any longer and called out, "Nie Xi, are you asleep? You should be resting in your room."
When there was no response, Yun Zhi Yue frowned and got off the bed. Approaching Nie Xi, she found him staring up at her with his innocent eyes, peering beneath her skirt.
Seeing that he was fine eased her worries. She kicked him lightly and said irritably, "You're not dead; stop scaring people and get up."
Nie Xi grasped Yun Zhi Yue's calf. "Yue Yue, while I was lying on the floor just now, I thought about whether you'd come down if you knew I was faking it. I won the bet; you care about me, so I can be a bit more reckless because you've spoiled me."
With a firm tug, he pulled Yun Zhi Yue down into his embrace.
He rolled over to pin down the fuming girl, kissing and caressing her until he tasted what he desired once more.
"Yue Yue, I love you so much! Earlier, I thought about ruining you because I suspected you had feelings for Nie Zhui. But then I realized that as long as you smile at me, I can't bring myself to do anything."
Listening to his sweet talk made Yun Zhi Yue feel no warmth whatsoever.
Her cheeks flushed as she retorted sarcastically, "Can't do anything? What are you doing right now? If I smile at you ten times, will you leave me alone?"
Nie Xi held onto Yun Zhi Yue's wrist tightly, his eyes filled with a fierce desire. "No way."
"Then why are you wasting time? Hurry up and finish; your body is still not well enough for this kind of thing."
Nie Xi chuckled. "I hardly ever do this; this is only the second time."
"Don't say anything, I understand what you mean. Girls love to speak in riddles, so don't worry, I get it."
"He doesn't understand a thing; he's just a fool living in his own world."
"After that banquet, I moved into the villa. Although this house belongs to Nie Zhui, I paid for it, so he has no say over who stays here."
But perhaps Nie Xi's instigation was too effective. Since the banquet, Nie Zhui hadn't come looking for her or even called; it was as if she had nothing to do with him at all.
Yun Zhi Yue didn't mind. Previously, she thought she had no backing in the capital, which was why she had been entangled in a half-hearted relationship with Nie Zhui. But now that she had Ye Lian, there was no need to give him any face; it was better to avoid any unpleasantness.
Later, Ye Lian came by several times, mainly to finalize matters regarding Yun Hang.
