As Xue Wushuang's body sank completely, a cry for help rang out.
"Save him!" Lin Han shouted, rushing forward without hesitation. Despite the weight he carried, his speed did not waver in the slightest.
He grasped Xue Wushuang's arm tightly and took a deep breath. With a sudden pull, he launched Xue Wushuang into the air, using the momentum to send him backward.
Below, the Demon Crocodile roared in frustration as its meal slipped away. The pit beneath them began to widen, with countless stones and dirt collapsing, revealing the massive body of the Demon Crocodile.
After rescuing Xue Wushuang, Lin Han scanned the area and spotted the tree he had marked earlier. On either side of him, Qin Luoxi and Zhou Qingqing pulled the incapacitated Xue Wushuang toward their target.
Poor Fat Cat was dragged along violently, his knees scraping against the ground. "Ouch, ouch! Slow down! I'm going to catch fire; my backside is on fire!" Xue Wushuang wailed as he was pulled along.
"Shut up! You should have eaten less; look at how much trouble you are now!"
"I swear I’ll never—" Xue Wushuang began to lament but suddenly noticed the Demon Crocodile moving beneath them, its speed matching that of his friends on land.
As that gaping maw filled with sharp teeth drew closer, he hurriedly shouted to his rescuers, "Forget what I said! Pick up the pace or I might lose my legs!"
"You brought this on yourself!" Qin Luoxi gritted her teeth, her grip on Xue Wushuang's arm tightening as her pale skin bulged with veins.
Watching the Demon Crocodile approach rapidly, Xue Wushuang's legs trembled in fear. Meanwhile, Lin Han focused intently on the distance between them and the marked tree in the distance.
"Just hold on a little longer; we're almost there!" Zhou Qingqing urged through clenched teeth.
"Almost there? We're not there yet! You two need to put in more effort!"
Xue Wushuang stared at the looming figure of the Demon Crocodile, her soul nearly escaping in fear.
"We're almost there! Just hold on a little longer!" Zhou Qingqing gritted her teeth, her pale arms trembling slightly, yet she clung tightly to Xue Wushuang's arm.
Five meters, four meters, three meters, one meter!
Lin Han silently observed the distance between the group and the towering tree. Just as the Demon Crocodile was about to break through the ground and lunge at Xue Wushuang, two sharp sounds pierced the air from the branches above. Suddenly, two makeshift nets dropped down from the treetops.
The Demon Crocodile, believing its meal was within reach, roared in fury as it watched its prey escape once again. It burst forth from the ground with a thunderous crash but quickly found its vision obstructed. Without warning, its massive body crashed to the ground, losing balance and flipping over.
With a resounding thud, the fallen leaves that had covered the ground scattered aside to reveal a pit that had been dug in advance. The pit was several meters deep; although hastily excavated, it was more than sufficient to contain the Mantle Crocodile.
Water splashed everywhere as the Demon Crocodile struggled and thrashed in the pit, but it was clear that its efforts were futile. Its body seemed to disintegrate under the pressure as it flailed its front claws, desperately trying to climb out of the water. However, it was evident that they had come prepared.
"Han Fei, set the trap!"
Taking advantage of the Demon Crocodile's difficulty in escaping, Lin Han intended to signal Han Fei to end this encirclement. But just then, a violent tremor shook the ground beneath them—was there more trouble on the way?
Lin Han had no time to think further; he suddenly took large strides backward. The plan to hunt the Demon Crocodile from behind the bushes was about to unfold.
