"I'm going to attract their attention. You all take the chance to move around the square," Zhou Qingqing said slowly, her tone carrying a hint of determination.
"Sister, do you even understand the situation?" Xue Wushuang shot her a disdainful look, and Zhou Qingqing glared back at her.
"What else can we do? We can't just wait here to die. The passive trigger of the Mechanical Enemy has only a little over an hour left. If we keep hiding here, we'll all be dead by the next riot!" Zhou Qingqing's voice grew urgent, the current predicament draining the group's already limited patience.
"If you all think you still have energy left, why not go out and fight? We're not at the point of giving up just yet," Qin Luoxi's cold voice cut through the tension.
Both Xue Wushuang and Zhou Qingqing fell silent, and at that moment, Chen Huan'er timidly raised her hand.
"I have an item that can help us hide. As long as we don't make any noise, it shouldn't be discovered," Chen Huan'er said, lifting an old cloak in her hand.
【Unnoticeable Hood】
Xue Wushuang looked skeptical, her tone uncertain. "Does this thing really work? It looks so worn out."
Hearing Xue Wushuang's derision towards her item, Chen Huan'er's small face turned serious as she replied firmly, "This was forged by my father when he participated in the Star Dragon Festival. I won't let you say anything bad about it!"
The little girl was incredibly earnest, making Xue Wushuang feel a bit embarrassed. "Alright, I get it. Let's give it a try."
As Xue Wushuang donned the tattered cloak, it looked somewhat ridiculous on her due to her figure; it was originally oversized for Chen Huan'er. A large portion of Xue Wushuang's body was exposed, prompting Zhou Qingqing to burst into laughter.
"It looks like a fool wrapped in a bedsheet," she teased.
Xue Wushuang's face darkened. "Say that again!"
Xue Wushuang's expression darkened as he couldn't help but raise his voice. But just then, a sense of dread washed over him.
Qin Luoxi's eyes flashed with a cold light, the deep black within them swirling ominously. The harsh mechanical sounds from the distant alley began to draw closer.
"Prepare to break through!"
Qin Luoxi shot a cold glance at Xue Wushuang and Zhou Qingqing, her blood jade-carved Cry Blood Soul Blade poised and ready in her hand.
Perched on her shoulder, the Azure Phantom Fox raised its head, flames igniting in its eyes, while its three long tails swayed and draped over Qin Luoxi's neck.
In an instant, Qin Luoxi's figure became like a shattered shadow, her presence vanishing into the darkness of the alley. Zhou Qingqing instinctively moved deeper into the alley with Chen Huan'er, while Xue Wushuang's eyes turned blood-red.
Bloodthirsty Frenzy surged within him; he could no longer care about the swelling pain in his palm as he thrust his hand toward the approaching shadow at the alley's entrance.
Just as Xue Wushuang was about to confront the encroaching Mechanical Entity, he heard Qin Luoxi's voice call out.
"Wait! Don't act yet, trust me!"
Xue Wushuang was filled with questions. If he didn’t act now, would he just sit back and wait for the enemy to surround them? Though he wanted to argue, his instinctive trust in Qin Luoxi made him hesitate.
He found himself standing right before the Mechanical Entity, its red-glowing Mechanical Eye mere inches away. Yet it made no move against him; instead, the creaking sounds of machinery echoed behind him in the alley. Despite Xue Wushuang being right there, it seemed as if the entity was completely oblivious to his presence.
