They stared wide-eyed at the scene before them, yet felt utterly helpless, knowing that soon they too would follow in the same footsteps.
Ke Liang quickly sensed something was off; why did he feel so comfortable all of a sudden? He abruptly opened his eyes and was astonished to see the mysterious light emanating from his body. That light transformed into a smaller Black Snake, its belly slightly swollen.
The Little Black Snake blinked and vanished into the body of the Black Snake. It was then that Wu Liang realized that the Ghostly Energy within him had been completely purged. He looked at the Black Snake with confusion. What did this mean? Was it detoxifying before consuming? Was the Great Demon so particular about such things?
He couldn't understand why this thought crossed his mind. Remember, I am not a serpent demon, not a serpent demon, and certainly not a monster. If you mistake me again, don’t blame me for not saving you next time.
As soon as he finished speaking, the snake's tail flicked, soaring into the sky and disappearing from sight, leaving Ke Liang and the others in stunned silence, unable to recover for a long while.
Did we survive? A weak voice from one of them asked, unsure of who had spoken.
Ke Liang suddenly snapped back to reality, leaping to his feet. Wu Mojian and the others hurriedly got up and rushed over.
"My lord, what just happened? How could that Great Demon let us go?" Wu Mojian still found it hard to believe.
Ke Liang’s expression turned serious. Now calm, he looked up at the sky. Perhaps it really wasn’t a monster after all. But how could that be? It was clearly a serpent demon! Wu Mojian insisted; he had seen it with his own eyes—there could be no mistake.
"Can you sense any demonic energy?" Ke Liang asked slowly.
Wu Mojian immediately replied, "Isn’t it normal for demons to conceal their energy?"
Ke Liang shook his head and suddenly pulled out his waist token. It was a black Xuan Tie Ling Pai, engraved with a character meaning 'handsome.'
"You should know what this token does; there’s no method to hide demonic energy from it," he explained. "But just now, in front of that Black Snake, the token didn’t react at all."
"Could it be? Is it really not a demon?" Wu Mojian gasped in disbelief. He too considered the function of his own token—it hadn’t given any warning either.
The token was personally crafted by the prince, and even the Great Demon of the Divine Realm cannot escape its perception. This is also why the Zhen Mo Si can swiftly capture demons. All demons are laid bare before them.
The other Zhen Mo Wei were astonished, and someone couldn't help but ask, "My lord, then what is he?"
Ke Liang furrowed his brow. "I don't know either, but he doesn't seem to harbor any ill intentions toward us, and that's enough."
Everyone nodded slightly; indeed, if it weren't for this person's appearance, they would all have perished.
Ke Liang turned around and gazed at Anping County before him, his eyes deep with thought. He silently wondered if this was where the stranger resided. This was not a baseless guess; since they had no ties to the Black Snake, there must be a reason for his intervention—he was protecting this county.
Ke Liang decided to stay for the time being and search carefully. If he could persuade this esteemed individual to join the Zhen Mo Si, perhaps they could once again instill fear in those demons.
No one could understand Ke Liang's feelings toward the Zhen Mo Si. His entire family had been slaughtered by demons, and it was the prince who had saved him personally. He had been raised within the Zhen Mo Si since childhood. The Zhen Mo Si was his home.
At that moment, Qin Feng retracted the Black Snake, and in his hand appeared a swirling mass of red Sha Qi. A red longsword materialized once more. A smile crept across Qin Feng's face as a red sheath emerged around the sword's body, bringing him increasing joy as he hung it at his waist.
