He knew how terrifying the Black Snake was. Qin Feng flipped his hand and put the Black Snake away. "You can just consider it a pet," he said.
Li Liang's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Qin Feng. "What kind of pet? You, a mere mortal, can have such a terrifying creature?" Moreover, there was not a trace of demonic aura about it. He was certain that it was not as simple as a pet.
Though he had seen many things, this was the first time he encountered such a situation. But he knew one thing: this young man before him was not someone to provoke; he could only seek to ally with him.
He even thought of something more terrifying. Could it be that he was so bluntly telling himself this because he intended to silence him? It wasn't unreasonable for him to think that way; after all, such a powerful existence hidden in a small county surely wanted to remain undiscovered.
"I will definitely keep this secret and won't say anything," Li Liang stammered, his eyes filled with caution.
Qin Feng was taken aback and glanced at Li Liang. "It doesn't matter if it gets out; I'm not afraid of trouble."
Li Liang paused, then sighed in relief, cursing himself for overthinking. A person as formidable as him wouldn’t fear others knowing about him, right? He awkwardly sat down and asked, "Qin Gongzi, with your strength, have you considered doing something?"
Qin Feng nodded. "What do you mean? I'm preparing for the Keju exam. I’ll be going to Qingshan Mansion in a few days to take the Provincial Examination."
Li Liang was stunned again. "With your immense power, why are you thinking about the Keju and entering government service? Is it for fun?"
Then he thought that perhaps this was an opportunity to recruit him into the Zhen Mo Si. His eyes brightened at the thought. "Qin Gongzi, with your strength, why not join the Zhen Mo Si?"
Qin Feng paused. "Zhen Mo Si?"
"Yes, Zhen Mo Si! With your abilities and my recommendation, you could start as a Zhenmo Jiang and quickly become a Zhenmo Commander," Li Liang urged eagerly.
Qin Feng did not respond but looked up at Li Liang's head. He had yet to check this guy's Destiny Energy.
"Hmm?" Qin Feng frowned. What was going on? Why was his Destiny Energy red? Logically speaking, as a Zhenmo Commander, it should at least be green or blue.
Li Liang stared at Qin Feng, waiting for his response.
Qin Feng suddenly spoke up. "Isn't the Zhen Mo Si considered outside the court's jurisdiction?"
Li Liang was taken aback for a moment, then proudly nodded, "Of course, we operate independently of the court and only report to His Majesty."
Qin Feng inquired, "Then doesn't that mean your Official Seal's ability to suppress demons has weakened considerably?"
"Official Seal? Not at all. We only have our tokens. As for suppressing demons, we handle it ourselves without needing the Official Seal," Li Liang replied, pulling out his token.
Qin Feng nodded in understanding. "That makes sense. Since the Zhen Mo Si operates independently, the court's Destiny Energy is significantly reduced—almost negligible. It's all about strength when it comes to suppressing demons."
"How about it, Qin Gongzi? Would you like to join the Zhen Mo Si? The power is substantial," Li Liang asked, somewhat anxiously for reasons he couldn't quite understand.
Qin Feng rolled his eyes. "There's hardly any Destiny Energy involved. Why would I join? To become a laborer suppressing demons?"
"Thank you for your kind offer, Li Da Ren, but I think I'll pass on joining the Zhen Mo Si. I have my own aspirations—I want to make it onto the Golden List," he added.
Li Liang was momentarily stunned, disappointment flickering in his eyes. Yet he was unwilling to give up. "After the Golden List, will you consider joining the Zhen Mo Si then?"
Qin Feng shook his head, surprised by Li Liang's persistence. "Let's just forget it. It's time for me to pursue an official career; I'll still be serving Da Li in my own way."
