That night, the defenses of the Special Zone were quietly upgraded, and various squads of the Alliance had secretly deployed to areas where the Black Hawk might appear. At midnight, a black truck stealthily approached the Special Zone and finally stopped in front of an abandoned warehouse. Several fully armed members of the Shadow Alliance jumped down from the truck, vigilantly surveying their surroundings to ensure there were no ambushes.
In the shadows of the warehouse, the Alliance's assault team had already taken up positions, waiting. Chen Rui observed everything through his night vision goggles, anticipating the appearance of the Black Hawk. As time passed, the members of the Shadow Alliance at the warehouse entrance began to grow alert, sensing that something was amiss.
Just then, a faint sound of footsteps echoed from within the warehouse as a figure slowly emerged. Cloaked in a black robe, his face concealed beneath a hood, he exuded an icy aura of menace. Chen Rui's gaze sharpened; he knew this was the Black Hawk.
The Black Hawk seemed to sense something, stopping in his tracks and scanning the area with hawk-like eyes. The assault team held their breath in tension, waiting for Chen Rui's command. What is he doing? Erin whispered through the communication channel.
Chen Rui replied in a low voice: I don't know, but whatever it is, we can't let them complete it.
He decisively issued the order to launch an assault. The assault team members surged out from their cover like arrows released from a bow, gunfire and explosions instantly shattering the night. The Shadow Alliance members retaliated while covering the Black Hawk's retreat; they were clearly well-prepared.
The Black Hawk was agile and composed in facing the Alliance's assault, directing his men to resist fiercely. Seeing that the Black Hawk was gradually retreating, Chen Rui felt a sense of urgency and immediately commanded his team to encircle him, attempting to cut off his escape route.
However, the Black Hawk was evidently prepared; several guards fought desperately to hold back their attackers, buying him precious moments for retreat. Just as it seemed that the Black Hawk would break free from encirclement, Erin disregarded her own safety and swiftly approached from the flank, aiming her sniper rifle at him.
Target locked. Erin whispered as she tightened her finger on the trigger, ready to fire.
At that critical moment, the Black Hawk suddenly stopped, seemingly aware of Erin's presence. He smiled slightly before swiftly turning and disappearing into thick smoke. Erin's bullet struck the ground instead, missing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The assault team quickly pursued him, but the Black Hawk had vanished without a trace, leaving behind only a few Shadow Alliance members lying in pools of blood. Chen Rui's expression turned grim as he felt a surge of frustration and anger. The cunning of the Black Hawk had thwarted their ambush operation; they had missed a chance to destroy the Shadow Alliance.
After the battle concluded, the assault team searched through what remained in the warehouse and discovered an undestroyed communication device. Chen Rui ordered technicians to crack it quickly; some information stored within indicated that the Black Hawk's actions were far from over—midnight was merely part of a larger plan by the Shadow Alliance.
Chen Rui realized that the threat from the Shadow Alliance was far from eliminated; the Black Hawk could strike again at any moment. The safety of the Special Zone hung by a thread; this confrontation with the Shadow Alliance would be a long and arduous battle.
As night gradually receded and dawn illuminated the streets of the Special Zone—symbolizing new hope—Chen Rui understood that the dark forces of the Shadow Alliance still lurked in every corner of this city, waiting for their next attack.
