Erin lowered her head slightly, as if hesitating over something. Finally, she mustered the courage to look up at him. "If one day you really choose to give up this position, can we try to live a more ordinary life?"
Chen Rui was stunned; he had never expected Erin to say such things. Throughout their journey together, they had always fought side by side, sharing life and death. After countless missions where they faced danger together, he had grown accustomed to Erin's presence but had never realized how deeply she felt for him.

The pursuit lasted several days until finally at an abandoned port, Chen Rui successfully pinpointed Gui Hu's hiding place. This time there were no intense gunfire or explosions; it became a psychological battle instead. Gui Hu not only set traps but also attempted to shake Chen Rui's resolve.
In a brief standoff, Gui Hu suddenly produced a photograph and handed it to Chen Rui with an eerie smile on his face. "Chen Rui, I know that woman beside you is important to you. Are you sure you can protect her on this battlefield?"
Seeing Erin's photo made Chen Rui's heart tighten; he suppressed his inner fury and coldly replied, "You shouldn't have touched what you shouldn't."
Those words seemed to hit Gui Hu's weak spot and caused him to momentarily lose focus. Seizing that opportunity, Chen Rui decisively struck and subdued Gui Hu while secretly vowing to eradicate all remnants of the Shadow Alliance completely—ensuring that they could no longer threaten Erin.
After completing the mission and returning to the Special Zone, Chen Rui immediately sought out Erin. In the base’s lounge area, he found her tiredly adjusting equipment. When Erin saw him return safely, she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief and forced a smile as she said, "Looks like you're still that invincible Chen Rui."
Chen Rui slowly walked up to her and gently took both her hands in his own, his gaze filled with tenderness and determination. "Erin, this operation made me realize that I am no longer just an agent. In the future, I want not only to protect this land but also to protect you."
Erin was taken aback for a moment before her eyes glistened with unshed tears as she nodded gently. In this life filled with battles and struggles, they finally revealed their true feelings for one another.
However, they both knew that their future remained fraught with uncertainty. Although the Shadow Alliance had suffered significant losses, remnants of Black Hawk were still lurking everywhere—waiting for an opportunity to strike back. Because of this reality, their guardianship was far from over.
In the days that followed, Chen Rui continued to work tirelessly on the front lines of his missions, while Ailin became his most reliable support behind the scenes. The two of them worked in perfect harmony, sharing life and death together, and amidst their mutual concern, they continued to protect this land.
