The scene in the control room left Chen Rui and his team stunned. The console was completely deserted, and the entire room seemed to have been cleared out, leaving only a single main computer that was still running, its screen flashing with complex code.
"Where's You Lang?" a team member whispered, clearly confused by the sudden turn of events.
Chen Rui stepped closer to the main computer and noticed an automatically generated message on the screen: "Welcome, Chen Rui. I anticipated your arrival. This operation is merely a small gift I prepared for you."
You Lang's message felt like a bucket of cold water splashed over Chen Rui's head. He realized that You Lang had long suspected they would come here and had deliberately left these messages, setting a larger trap.
At that moment, red alarm lights suddenly illuminated the walls of the control room, and a piercing alarm echoed throughout the space. You Lang's voice came through the loudspeakers, coldly stating, "Thank you for your visit, but now you cannot leave."
The heavy door of the control room slammed shut, and the sound of heavy footsteps echoed from the corridor—clearly, Heijing's guard troops were surrounding them. Chen Rui quickly scanned his surroundings, realizing that this was You Lang's trap; they were trapped inside the control room.
Everyone sought cover on the spot, preparing for battle! Chen Rui issued orders, leading his team to set up a temporary defense within the room. The guards from Heijing soon burst into the corridor, engaging Squad in fierce gunfire. Bullets flew in the cramped space, and explosions rang out deafeningly.
Amidst the chaos, Lin Xi's voice came through the communicator: "Chen Rui, I'm trying to remotely disable the lockdown of the control room, but Heijing's defense system is set to automatic response; it's extremely difficult! I need more time!"
Chen Rui knew they had little time left and had to hold off the enemy's assault until Lin Xi could crack the system. He and his team retaliated while looking for opportunities to gradually move toward the other side of the control room in search of a possible escape route.
Just then, Chen Rui noticed a strange message displayed on the console—another clue seemingly left intentionally by You Lang. He immediately realized that You Lang might be trying to guide them to a specific area, but he couldn't be sure if this was another trap set by the enemy.
With no way to retreat now, Chen Rui decided to take a risk. He led his team to move quickly according to the hint, passing through another door in the control room and entering a concealed passageway.
The passage was lined with wires and pipes, clearly an emergency evacuation route. Chen Rui felt a spark of intuition; You Lang might have another hiding place and was attempting to escape through this passage. He urged Squad to accelerate their pace as they delved deeper into the tunnel until they finally arrived at a hidden door.
Upon pushing open the door, they found themselves in a secret underground chamber. You Lang stood calmly in the center of the room as if he had anticipated their arrival all along. He smiled slightly, his eyes glinting with coldness: "Chen Rui, I've been waiting for you."
Chen Rui tightened his grip on Wu Lan and coldly replied: "You Lang, this time you have nowhere to run."
You Lang chuckled lightly as if unconcerned and slowly said: "Chen Rui, do you really think I would be so easily trapped here? This is just the beginning. I've already placed my pieces in Special Zone; even if you capture me, you cannot stop its destruction."
Chen Rui realized that this person before him was not an ordinary enemy but a cold-blooded madman with intellect. His schemes were far from over; the future of Special Zone remained fraught with unknown dangers.
