After weighing his options, Chen Rui decided to take the plunge into adventure. He quickly made his way to the power system on the other side of the warehouse and silently cut the power, plunging the space into darkness. Using the cover of night, Chen Rui stealthily approached the cargo and quietly implanted a tracking device.
However, a low chuckle echoed in the darkness: the people from Special Zone had finally arrived. Chen Rui spun around to find Night Raven standing not far away, watching him with a glint of amusement and disdain in his eyes. It was clear he had anticipated someone would come to stop him, and the darkness of the warehouse seemed to have no effect on him.
Chen Rui, one of the top agents of Special Zone, was indeed as formidable as his reputation suggested. Night Raven slowly spoke, his voice deep and hoarse, "But do you really think you can stop the undercurrents all by yourself?"
Chen Rui tightened his grip on his weapon, his gaze sharp as he locked eyes with Night Raven. "As long as there’s a glimmer of hope, I won’t give up. And your conspiracy will not succeed."
Night Raven sneered. "Is that so? Your so-called Special Zone is merely a facade of tranquility. The power of the undercurrents has already seeped into your very heart. This move is just to show you that no matter how hard you struggle, you will ultimately be powerless."
The atmosphere between them suddenly grew tense, thick with an overwhelming sense of danger. Chen Rui weighed his options in his mind; it was evident that Night Raven was no ordinary opponent, and facing him alone would be a challenge.
At that moment, support from Squad finally arrived outside the warehouse. A sudden explosion shattered the night air as the massive door was blown open by a tremendous force, flames shooting skyward. The members of Special Zone rushed in from all directions, instantly disrupting Night Raven's plans.
Seeing the situation turn against him, Night Raven wasted no time and sprinted toward the back door. Chen Rui quickly followed, pursuing closely behind, but Night Raven's agility allowed him to create distance with each turn.
Lin Xi led Squad members to swiftly regain control of the situation inside the warehouse, successfully confiscating weapons. However, as Night Raven was about to escape, Lin Xi made a decisive choice and pulled the trigger, accurately shooting at Night Raven's leg.
Night Raven let out a muffled grunt and stumbled to a halt, anger flashing in his eyes. Yet a strange smile crept onto his lips as he whispered, "This is just the beginning; you cannot stop the rise of the undercurrents."
As soon as he finished speaking, Night Raven pulled out a small bomb and pressed the detonation button without hesitation. Chen Rui and Lin Xi dove to the ground simultaneously to avoid the blast. A violent explosion shook the entire warehouse, causing walls to collapse and smoke to fill the air.
Once the explosion subsided, Chen Rui and Lin Xi quickly got back on their feet and searched around but found no trace of Night Raven. All they discovered was a broken command device and a small piece of fabric bearing the symbol of the undercurrents—seemingly left behind intentionally by Night Raven.
Lin Xi gritted his teeth in frustration. "He actually escaped! We were so close to catching him; it’s infuriating!"
Chen Rui took a deep breath to calm himself. "It's alright; at least we stopped this batch of weapons from circulating and confirmed Night Raven's existence. He will be our primary target moving forward; next time he won't escape so easily."
Just as they were preparing to withdraw, Director Zhao's voice came through their communication device: "Chen Rui, Lin Xi, well done on your mission. However, we’ve discovered that the true plan of the undercurrents seems far more complex than we imagined. They are not only aiming for a terrorist attack but may also be involved in something much larger."
