After the rift closed, all that remained in the ruins was scorched earth and shattered metal debris, as if no strange events had ever occurred here. Lin Xi sat on the ground, her eyes vacant as she stared at the now silent rift, murmuring, "It’s impossible. He wouldn’t just disappear like this." 0

Zhou Zheng tried to comfort her, but the words caught in his throat. Anything he said would seem superfluous; he understood that once Director Zhao decided to enter the rift alone, he had already prepared himself for the worst. 0

Chen Rui calmly checked the equipment, recording data from after the rift's disappearance while communicating with headquarters. He sensed something was off; on the surface, this mission seemed to have concluded successfully, yet many doubts lingered throughout the process. 0

"There was a brief abnormal spike in Energy Fluctuation before the rift vanished," Chen Rui said softly, "like some sort of transmission signal." 0

"Transmission signal?" Zhou Zheng furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?" 0

Chen Rui shook his head, unable to fully explain. "I’m not sure; it requires further analysis. But in the last moment before the rift disappeared, the nearby Electromagnetic Field intensity surged several times over, resembling an information burst." 0

Lin Xi stood up, her face filled with anger and resentment. "Are you saying that Director Zhao’s sacrifice might have been in vain?" 0

No one said it was in vain. Zhou Zheng's tone was somber, but it was clear that this matter was not as simple as we thought. 0

Upon returning to base, the squad immediately began organizing all data from this mission. Lin Xi didn’t stop for a moment; she pulled up the last segment of footage before the rift closed, trying to find any trace of Director Zhao. However, all that remained in the video was a blinding blue light and distorted Energy Fluctuation, making it impossible to see any figures. 0

"Lin Xi, don’t push yourself too hard," Chen Rui said gently as he observed her reddened eyes. 0

"I’m fine," Lin Xi replied hoarsely but defiantly. "He must be somewhere; I won’t give up." 0

"Maybe we should start with that voice," Zhou Zheng suddenly suggested. 0

"Voice?" Chen Rui looked at him in confusion. 0

"After entering the rift, Director Zhao mentioned a voice that spoke to him," Zhou Zheng explained. "This suggests there might be some form of intelligence behind the rift; it’s not just a simple passage." 0

"Are you saying that voice could be a puppet master?" Lin Xi frowned. 0

"Or perhaps a Rift Guardian," Chen Rui added. "Whichever possibility it is, it knows truths we do not." 0

To investigate further, the base summoned several experts to re-scan and model the residual Energy Field of the rift. These experts were top theoretical physicists and Energy Field researchers in the country, yet even they were baffled by the anomalies encountered during this mission. 0

"The way the rift closed was completely different from what we expected," one expert stated. "According to theory, it should have gradually dissipated, but this time it seemed forcibly erased." 0

"Forcibly erased?" Lin Xi couldn’t help but ask. "What does that mean?" 0

"It means some force intervened and completely wiped the rift from reality," another expert explained. "This even includes its Energy Fluctuation and spatial properties, as if it never existed." 0

"This is impossible!" Lin Xi exclaimed excitedly. "We saw the rift with our own eyes; the data recorded everything!" 0

"And therein lies the problem," one expert sighed helplessly. "This erasure wasn’t thorough; it left behind a blank trace, and we are currently trying to uncover the truth behind the rift through this trace." 0
