In the heart of the forest, Lin Xi, Zhou Zheng, and Chen Rui gathered, surrounded by an indescribable sense of oppression. A strange Energy Fluctuation floated in the air, as if it were watching their every move from the shadows. 0

"This can't be an ordinary forest," Chen Rui whispered, activating his portable detector. The energy concentration here was over ten times higher than that of the previous ruins. Moreover, these Energy Fluctuations seemed alive, moving around them. 0

Lin Xi scanned their surroundings and tightened her grip on Wu Lan. "Everyone be careful; stay close together." 0

Zhou Zheng cautiously approached a seemingly ordinary tree, lightly scraping his knife against the bark, only to find a thick black substance oozing out instead of sap. 0

"What is this?" Zhou Zheng frowned as his finger accidentally brushed against the black liquid, a sharp sting shooting through him. 0

"Don't touch it!" Lin Xi immediately warned. "That stuff could be toxic." 0

Chen Rui quickly took out his sample collection device and gathered some of the black substance for analysis. His expression grew increasingly grave. "This isn't ordinary venom; it appears to be an unknown biological agent that may be related to Rift Creation." 0

Lin Xi nodded. "This forest might actually be part of the rift itself. It poses not just a physical threat but also psychological interference." 0

"What do we do next?" Zhou Zheng asked. "Should we push forward or find a safe place to rest?" 0

Lin Xi pondered for a moment. "We don't have time to rest. We must keep moving. The center of the Energy Fluctuation should be nearby; this could be key to unraveling the Abyss Project." 0

The team continued along a hidden path in the forest, and the environment grew increasingly bizarre. The shapes of the trees began to twist unnaturally, and occasionally, glimmers resembling eyes flickered among the branches. 0

"It feels like we're being watched," Zhou Zheng murmured, cold sweat forming in his palms. 0

"Don't look around or listen too closely," Lin Xi said calmly. "Stay focused on our objective." 0

Suddenly, their path was blocked by a massive rift, from which faint black mist emanated, releasing a pungent odor. 0

"Chen Rui, is there any way to get around this?" Lin Xi asked. 0

Chen Rui examined the edges of the rift closely and shook his head. "No, this rift isn't naturally formed; it seems like part of a teleportation passage. We might need a specific method to get through." 0

"So you mean we have to force our way through?" Zhou Zheng chuckled bitterly, sensing that wasn't a good idea. 0

Lin Xi didn't hesitate long. "We have no other choice; we must try." 0

She stepped into the rift first, attempting to use her communication device to scan for Energy Fluctuation but inadvertently triggered some mechanism. The rift emitted a deep rumbling sound as a shadowy figure emerged from within. 0

It was a creature that was neither fully human nor beastly, radiating an eerie blue light with a long tail trailing behind it—seemingly guarding the entrance to the rift. 0

"Prepare for battle!" Lin Xi shouted sharply as she swiftly drew Wu Lan. 0

The fight erupted instantly; the creature let out a piercing roar and swung its tail violently, creating shockwaves like a fierce windstorm. Lin Xi quickly dodged while commanding her team to spread out and look for opportunities to attack. 0
