In the depths of the valley, the air was thick with a strong scent of blood, lingering in the oppressive silence that followed the battle. 0

"This operation exceeded our expectations," Zhou Zheng said while checking the equipment, his tone laced with unease. "If the Guardians continue to be like this, we might not last much longer." 0

"The Shadowstone Guardian is not our only enemy," Lin Xi replied coldly. Leaning against a rock to catch her breath, her gaze remained fixed on a shard of blue crystal. 0

"Lin Xi, we can retreat," Wang Ya suggested tentatively. "Perhaps we can call for reinforcements." 0

"Reinforcements?" Lin Xi scoffed lightly. "Who would pay for a group of forsaken souls? If we go back now, we’ll only become sacrifices for others." 0

Zhou Zheng sighed. "As always, we handle things ourselves and make do." 0

Chen Rui, the Analyzer, finally completed his scan and turned the screen towards the team. "The energy from this shard indeed originates from the Shadow Stone, and its property is to guide." 0

"Guide what?" Wang Ya frowned. 0

"A deeper energy reaction from the Shadow Stone." Chen Rui zoomed in on the map displayed on the Analyzer. A faint pulse signal was emitted from the shard, pointing towards a deeper area underground. 0

"It seems this is the key to the Area," Lin Xi mused after a moment of thought. "If we go down, we might encounter something even more dangerous than the Guardians." 0

"Should we continue then?" Zhou Zheng asked. 0

"Of course we should continue," Lin Xi replied firmly. "We have no way back." 0

Following the signal's guidance, the team entered a hidden underground passage. The entrance was concealed beneath thick layers of rock; without the energy from the Shadowstone Fragment leading them, they would never have discovered it. 0

The air inside the passage was unusually dry, and strange symbols covered the walls, resembling some ancient script. 0

"These symbols look somewhat familiar," Chen Rui said as he stroked his chin. "But their specific meanings need decoding." 0

"Don't waste time," Lin Xi urged, quickening her pace. "We need to find the Core Area first." 0

After about half an hour of walking, the passage gradually widened until they arrived at a massive underground stone tablet. The tablet stood about ten meters tall, shimmering with a bluish-purple glow, its surface etched with intricate patterns and designs resembling some kind of code. 0

"Is this what we're looking for?" Wang Ya asked in confusion. 0

"It doesn’t look like a destination; it seems more like a relay station," Lin Xi observed for a moment before turning to Chen Rui. "Can you analyze what this stone tablet does?" 0

Chen Rui quickly activated his equipment and scanned the tablet's surface patterns into the Analyzer. After a moment, his expression grew unusually complex. 0

"This tablet is indeed a guiding device; it requires special energy to activate," he said. "Moreover, it seems to be inscribed with a riddle." 0

"A riddle?" Lin Xi stepped forward to examine the patterns closely. In its center was an obscure ancient script that read: 0

"Light for day, darkness for night; where does the Rift Gate lead?" 0

Zhou Zheng scratched his head. "Does this mean we have to make a choice?" 0

"Not just that," Chen Rui said, pointing to the two grooves at the bottom of the stone tablet. "We need two Energy Cores to activate it, and we only have one Shadowstone Fragment." 0

"Where's the other core?" Wang Ya asked. 0

"It's nearby." Chen Rui indicated a weak energy signal source on the map displayed by the Analyzer, about three miles away from them. 0

"We need to split up," Lin Xi said decisively. "Chen Rui and Zhou Zheng will stay here and try to decipher the stone tablet; Wang Ya and I will go retrieve the other core." 0

"This place is too dangerous. Isn't splitting up too risky?" Wang Ya hesitated. 0

"There’s no time to hesitate," Lin Xi replied firmly. "We must find the core as soon as possible; otherwise, this Energy Field could change at any moment." 0

Lin Xi and Wang Ya cautiously moved in the direction indicated by the Analyzer. This area was filled with Hidden Traps and mechanisms, requiring them to remain vigilant at all times. 0

"Lin Xi, what do you think that riddle on the stone tablet means?" Wang Ya asked as they walked. 0

"It might relate to the properties of Shadow Stone," Lin Xi whispered. "Day and night, light and dark—perhaps it hints at some kind of Energy Balance." 0

"Hopefully Chen Rui can figure it out," Wang Ya sighed. "Otherwise, even if we get the core, it won’t do us any good." 0

The two continued onward until they soon discovered a small energy tower, with a Shadowstone Core flickering at its center, similar to the one before. 0

"That's it." Lin Xi pointed at the core. "But something feels off around here." 0

"It's definitely too quiet for comfort," Wang Ya observed warily. "Be careful; there might be guardians here." 0

Just as she finished speaking, the air around them suddenly grew cold, and a low humming sound echoed from all directions. The ground began to tremble as countless Azure Light Crystals erupted from it, forming a massive Translucent Barrier that trapped the two in the center. 0

"It’s definitely a trap!" Lin Xi quickly drew Wu Lan, ready for battle! 0

At that moment, a deep Mechanical Voice resonated in the air: 0

"Unauthorized individuals will ultimately turn to dust." 0

To be continued... 0
