The onlookers quietly watched, no one intervening, but all were making sarcastic remarks. 0
"Today's events are truly dramatic." 0
"I've never seen a daughter hit her father before, but I can understand her. If I were in her shoes, I'd definitely feel some resentment." 0
"Still, a daughter hitting her father is ultimately wrong, even if the father made mistakes." 0
A group of people whispered among themselves, their expressions varied. 0

Jiang Chen stood to the side, holding a glass of champagne and enjoying the spectacle. To him, this situation was easy to resolve; the person who needed to be punished should be dealt with. However, Ding Yan might not have the heart to do it. 0

Ding Shaowen, bruised and battered, finally realized that his daughter seemed quite formidable. 0
"Can we talk this out? Please stop hitting me," Ding Shaowen pleaded. 0
"Back then, my mother and I traveled thousands of miles to Aodao to find you, but you claimed not to know us and drove us away. If it weren't for you, my mother and I wouldn't have ended up on the streets and separated. I wouldn't have suffered for so many years; you deserve this," Ding Yan shouted angrily. 0

"I had no choice at that time; my family had already arranged a marriage for me. I couldn't go against it. Besides, I promised your mother that I would send you alimony regularly," Ding Shaowen hurriedly explained. 0
"You returned from the United States and didn't contact us for a whole year. My mom thought you were dead! When did you ever send alimony? Even now, you're still lying," Ding Yan sneered, delivering another slap across his face. 0

Ding Shaowen was completely subdued; he was no match for Ding Yan. Although she wouldn't kill him tonight, the accumulated resentment over the years was bound to erupt. After hitting and scolding him, Ding Yan felt somewhat disheartened. 0
"Mom, what do you plan to do from now on? I hope you will divorce him," Ding Yan said seriously as she looked at her mother. 0
"I... I can't divorce him right now. Your brother can't end up like you did. Nian'er, you should stay in Aodao from now on; Mom will take care of you," Yelina replied. 0

Ding Yan forced a smile; she understood her mother's thoughts but couldn't push her mother too hard since she already had another child. 0
"Mom, I understand. I won't stay in Aodao, but if I have time in the future, I'll come to see you," Ding Yan said. 0

"By the way, earlier I saw you with a man; is he your boyfriend?" Yelina asked. 0
"Uh, no, he's not," Ding Yan quickly clarified. 0
"If you start dating someone in the future, be careful; especially with those rich kids—you need to be extra cautious. The wealthy can be ruthless; I'd rather see you marry an ordinary person," Yelina advised earnestly. 0
"I know what I'm doing; my path is mine to choose. Even if I make mistakes along the way, I won't blame anyone," Ding Yan stated firmly. 0

"You've really grown up," Yelina said with a complex tone. Her daughter's words seemed mature but also indicated a desire to draw boundaries between them. 0

"Mom, it's getting late. I should be going now," Ding Yan said, glancing at Zhao Hun. 0

"I hope you treat my mother well. If I find out you're fooling around outside again, I won't let you off easily. You'd better watch yourself," Ding Yan warned coldly, her gaze sharp as a blade, sending a chill down Zhao Hun's spine. Yet, being threatened by a woman felt humiliating to him. 0

"You can't control my affairs; take care of yourself first. This is Aodao, my territory, so you'd better not overstep," Zhao Hun retorted defiantly. 0

A faint smirk appeared at the corner of Ding Yan's mouth, revealing a cold smile, but she chose not to say anything further. As long as her mother was safe, her heart would be at ease. 0

Her demands were simple; all she wanted was for her mother to be alive. 0
