Ling Xue shook her head slightly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm fine, just a little shaken. Who is that woman in black? Why did she target me?" A flicker of fear crossed her eyes, clearly indicating that she had not fully recovered from the attack.
Ling Na gently held her hand, offering comfort. "Ling Xue, don't worry. We will help you uncover the truth. Right now, the most important thing is for you to rest and take care of yourself and the baby." Her tone was firm yet gentle, providing Ling Xue with a sense of reassurance.
Liu Jiedong nodded in agreement, adding, "Yes, Ling Xue, your health is our priority. We will investigate this matter thoroughly and ensure that no one harms you or your child." His gaze conveyed determination and strength, which brought Ling Xue a measure of comfort.
Gratefully, Ling Xue looked at them and softly said, "Thank you both. With you here, I feel much safer." She knew she was not alone; with friends like Liu Jiedong and Ling Na by her side, she felt stronger in facing the challenges and dangers ahead.
However, despite their companionship and support, Ling Xue's future remained uncertain and fraught with variables. The only thing she could do now was to protect herself and her child while awaiting the arrival of new life. She believed that as long as there was love and courage in her heart, she could overcome any difficulty and embrace a beautiful future.
Ling Xue lay on the hospital bed under careful watch. Ling Na stayed behind to take care of her, and the two began a conversation.
Ling Na gently caressed her slightly rounded belly, worry etched on her face. "I'm pregnant now, and my baby is due soon. I wonder if I should tell my parents."
Ling Xue fell into thought about her own family. "I only have one brother; I’m afraid to contact him. He’s abroad and we hardly communicate unless he reaches out to me. Given my current situation..."
Ling Na continued, "You remember my previous issues with loans and what happened in Jun Yue? My parents already know."
"I think it's important to talk about your pregnancy," Ling Xue replied.
Gathering her courage, Ling Na made a phone call to her parents.
After a while, Ling Na returned with red-rimmed eyes. Choking back tears, she said, "They were very angry but also worried about me; after all, I'm their daughter. They expressed their concern."
"Now it's just the two of us relying on each other," she added.
Ling Xue took Ling Na's hand firmly, giving her strength. "Don't be afraid; we will face this together. No matter what happens in the future, we must stay strong for our children."
The two pregnant women leaned on each other tightly amidst their complex circumstances, searching for a glimmer of hope on the horizon.
