Ling Xue smiled as she sat down in the chair opposite Hou Kang and said, "I was just bored, so I came to check on you. It seems like business is pretty slow around here."
Hou Kang shrugged helplessly, tossing a magazine aside. "Yeah, it really has been a bit bleak lately. But you know me, I just go with the flow. If there's no work, I treat it like a vacation."
Ling Xue asked curiously, "So, is your income okay?"
Hou Kang chuckled and replied, "Well, my income isn't as high as those making big bucks, but at least I make around thirty thousand a month now. Compared to when I was driving a taxi, this is so much better. Back then, I was up early and out late, exhausted and barely making any money. Now, even though there's not much to do here, at least it's relaxed."
Ling Xue nodded and continued, "Have you heard about Ling Na?"
Hou Kang paused for a moment before smiling. "Yeah, I know. She's doing quite well at her company now, and I'm really happy for her. As for me, I'm not worried about food or clothing anymore, so I don't stress too much."
The two chatted back and forth, bringing some much-needed liveliness to the office.
Hou Kang stretched and leaned forward towards Ling Xue. "By the way, I've actually received some commissions recently. They might be trivial tasks, but at least it's something to do."
Ling Xue perked up and eagerly asked, "Oh? What kind of commissions?"
Hou Kang started counting on his fingers. "Well, the most common ones are finding lost pets. You wouldn't believe how precious these pets are to their owners. If one goes missing, they panic and start looking for help everywhere. Our detective agency has taken on several cases like that."
Ling Xue couldn't help but laugh. "Haha, I can imagine how frantic the owners must be when their pets go missing! What else do you have?"
"There's also locating people," Hou Kang continued. "Sometimes elderly family members go missing, and their relatives come rushing to us for help; other times it's friends or relatives who have lost contact and want us to dig up information about their whereabouts. We get all sorts of situations."
Ling Xue frowned slightly, nodding thoughtfully. "Hmm, searching for people carries quite a responsibility; it needs to be taken seriously."
Hou Kang agreed wholeheartedly. "Absolutely! We can't afford to be careless. Oh, right! We also get a lot of infidelity investigations. Those who suspect their partners of cheating will sneakily come to us for help to see if there's any truth to their suspicions."
Ling Xue wrinkled her nose in disdain. "Ugh, that kind of thing can really ruin a relationship. But you guys need to be careful with how you handle those cases; don't stir up any trouble."
Hou Kang patted his chest in assurance. "Of course! We know the rules in this line of work. Every investigation has to be done meticulously; we can't let anything tarnish our agency's reputation."
The two continued discussing these commissions back and forth, and the atmosphere in the office grew even more lively.
