Liu Haoran looked at me with a smile and asked. After hearing him, I chuckled. I understood his reasoning; rules are rules, but not everyone follows them, and not everyone who breaks them gets punished. To make someone face consequences, you need to catch them in the act of attempting to kill you! 0

But would Geng Kun, who wanted me dead, leave any evidence? Especially during such a sensitive time, with someone backing Geng Kun, as long as he executed his plans well enough, he wouldn't leave any traces. 0

Liu Haoran wanted to send someone to protect me, which was certainly a good intention. However, I was someone with secrets; I didn't want Liu Haoran's people getting too close to me. 0

"Thank you for your kindness, but I feel bad troubling you over such a small matter. My relationship with Yu Ge is pretty good. How about letting him bring someone to protect me for these three days?" 0

I said with a smile. Zheng Yu knew all my secrets, and I wasn't worried about him finding out anything more. Moreover, it seemed that Zheng Yu would help me; regardless of his motives, he wouldn't want me dead right away, would he? Otherwise, why would he have saved me? So having Zheng Yu protect me was the most reassuring option. 0

"Oh? That works too. Since you've become the leader of White Tiger Hall, Zheng Yu is now your subordinate. Zheng Yu, do you have any objections?" Liu Haoran turned to Zheng Yu and asked. 0

Zheng Yu smiled and replied, "None." 0

And so it was settled; for the next three days, Zheng Yu would ensure my safety. Perfect! I could also ask him more about the faction struggles. 0

After the meeting concluded, Liu Haoran, Cao Minghui, and the others left. Lu Qiang hurried over to me with a grin and said to both me and Zheng Yu, "Hehe, congratulations Dong Ge! This time Liu Laoda is on your side. I'm sure your position as leader is secured now. Just don't forget about your brother here when you get up there!" 0

Lu Qiang looked at me with a sheepish grin that seemed somewhat pitiful. Although he wasn't in trouble yet, without anyone backing him up, it was only a matter of time before something happened. 0

But those who are pitiful often have their own reasons for being so. Someone like Lu Qiang wasn't worth befriending or feeling sorry for; keeping him close could lead to betrayal if the price was right. 0

"I'm sorry; I definitely won't be helping you," I said with a smile to Lu Qiang. After that, I turned around with Zheng Yu and walked away while Lu Qiang followed behind, reminding me how good our past relationship was and how we used to hang out together. But I didn't respond or bring up how he had betrayed me; there was no need to acknowledge him. 0

Once I got into the car, I finally shook off Lu Qiang. Zheng Yu chuckled. 0

"What are you laughing at?" I asked Zheng Yu. I had let Liu Sen leave first because I planned to ask Zheng Yu some questions that he might not share in front of Liu Sen. 0

Zheng Yu smiled and said, "It's nothing; just reflecting on Lu Qiang." 0

Hearing this made me chuckle helplessly as well. Everyone has their own choices; if Lu Qiang were smart, he would slip away quietly now. If he wasn’t smart enough to do so, then he would have to face the consequences that were rightfully his! That's just reality—what you create is what you endure! 0

He had nothing to reflect on; instead, I thought it was necessary for us to have a proper conversation. 0

I started my car and smiled at Zheng Yu. His mysterious nature had puzzled me for quite some time; all I had were guesses about his motives for helping me. 0

"We don’t really have much to discuss; I've already told you everything you need to know. You just need to trust me," Zheng Yu said with a smile. 0

I sighed helplessly after hearing this and then looked at Zheng Yu and said, "Alright then, can I assume that your help isn't because I'm handsome but rather because we share common goals?" 0

"Exactly." 0

Zheng Yu nodded after listening, and I continued, "We have a common goal, so we are partners now, right? You’ve been monitoring me, and now you know my situation inside out. You can trust me to cooperate with you, but I know nothing about you. How can I feel secure in this partnership? Besides, not understanding each other isn’t beneficial for our future collaboration, is it?" 0

As I spoke, I watched Zheng Yu's expression. He seemed to understand, clearly agreeing with my point. I had worked with other undercover agents before; it was essential to know each other's identities thoroughly during such collaborations. Without that understanding, there could be no synergy. After all, two undercover agents working together needed to be in sync—it's crucial and could even be a matter of life and death. 0

"You make a valid point," Zheng Yu acknowledged. Then I said, "So why don’t you tell me exactly what your situation is?" 0

"But I can't tell you," Zheng Yu replied with his ever-present cold smile. 0

"Fine, if you won’t say anything, then you won’t." I sighed in frustration as I started the car and drove towards Tianchi. On the way, I pressed on with my questions. 0

"You may not want to reveal your identity, but shouldn’t you at least share some information about Liu Haoran and Geng Kun? This is important." 0

"Is it really important? There’s nothing crucial about it. Geng Kun can’t compete with Liu Haoran. If he could have taken him on, I would have warned you from the start," Zheng Yu said nonchalantly. 0

His attitude was infuriating; how could he dismiss it as unimportant? Understanding necessary information is vital for an undercover agent! If one fails to grasp that, it could jeopardize their life! 0
