When I drove home, Lu Ying had already fallen asleep. I carefully carried her upstairs and placed her on the bed. Looking at Lu Ying's peaceful face, I noticed traces of tears still lingering on her cheeks.
I decided not to dwell on the idea of taking advantage of her drunken state. Instead, I resolved to find another woman to play the role of my girlfriend tomorrow.
The next day, I woke up early and stood at Lu Ying's door, listening for any signs of her waking up. She usually got up earlier than I did.
"Are you awake? Come in," Lu Ying's voice called out as she noticed my presence. A smile crept onto my face as I pushed the door open.
"Hey, you're awake! What do you want to eat today?" I asked with a grin. At that moment, Lu Ying had changed into a cute set of pajamas and was sitting on the bed, looking at me with a hint of a smile.
"Did I go crazy yesterday?" she asked.
"Crazy? Not at all! What do you mean by crazy? You definitely drank too much; your tolerance is really low," I replied with a chuckle. Going crazy is something unacceptable for everyone, especially for a beautiful girl.
"Forget it. I know I went a bit overboard. I'm sorry for making you laugh at me, Dong Ge. I'm just a fool," Lu Ying said with a faint smile that tugged at my heartstrings.
"Whether you're a fool or not, you're still my friend," I said seriously, putting away my playful demeanor. This world is filled with unfairness, making innocent people endure pain they shouldn't have to bear. I'm no saint, but I have a heart. I understand that they need warmth, understanding, and support. As a friend, that's what I'm supposed to do.
Lu Ying was momentarily taken aback by my words before breaking into a smile, her eyes slightly red as she nodded and said, "Thank you. You're a good person. Don't worry; I haven't had an episode in a long time. Yesterday was definitely because of the drinking; normally, I can't drink at all. I won't affect your plans."
Hearing this made me laugh as well.
"That's not necessary; you won't be needed for this operation," I told Lu Ying.
She looked surprised and then furrowed her brows as she asked, "Why not?"
"Because you're my friend," I replied honestly.
"And what's wrong with that? Isn't it friends who help each other out in tough times?"
Lu Ying questioned me.
But you are not suited for this! You should know what you are up against!
I stood my ground, unwavering. Fate had been unfair to her! Since I had declared her my friend, how could I possibly push her back into danger?
You doubt me? You still think of me as a madman! But does that affect your plans? Even if I go crazy after being captured, it wouldn’t change anything, would it?
Lu Ying questioned me again.
I laughed.
You think I'm worried about the probability of success in this mission? That may be true! But this is something you cannot do!
I stated bluntly.
Ha!
Lu Ying chuckled and said, "Do you pity me? Did Yu Ge tell you my situation? Xiang Dong, have you forgotten your identity? You are Brother Heihui. With your kind-hearted nature, how can you possibly overthrow the Tian Ye Group?"
Do you think it's just about being ruthless? I can be that way, but I will choose when to be.
I continued to stand my ground! When it comes to enemies, anything goes! But with friends, I cannot do that.
If you say you’ve fallen for me and can’t bear to see me take such dangerous actions, then I won’t do it.
Lu Ying spoke up, staring at me intently, leaving me momentarily stunned!
Lu Ying is indeed a good girl, but I love Linna!
What’s wrong? Are you still afraid? Then play the saint; I don’t need anyone’s pity.
Lu Ying continued, her small face cold and stubbornly unyielding!
I was instantly infuriated!
Damn it, she still dares to disregard me, a little girl!

A slight smile graced Lu Ying's face as she recounted her story and then looked at me.
"Please help me, alright? I genuinely want to send all those bad guys to prison. They have destroyed my life; don’t let them ruin anyone else’s life. Just let me contribute a little; respect my choice, okay?"
Sigh.
Looking at Lu Ying's serious little face, I finally understood why Zheng Yu said she would never agree to back out of this matter!
There’s no denying it! What Lu Ying said really made sense!
Fine, whatever! I replied curtly and turned to leave, thinking to myself that I wouldn’t listen to her. Since we are friends, I respect her choice!
After leaving home, I arrived at the Security Department, and it wasn’t long before Zheng Yu came to find me.
“Dong Ge, about Xiao Ying’s situation…”
I already knew; the plan would continue.
I said, and Zheng Yu nodded with a smile, clearly not surprised by my response.
“Dong Ge, Xiao Ying is a very stubborn girl. This time, she fought for this herself,” Zheng Yu remarked. I chuckled and then looked at Zheng Yu, asking, “Do you accept people like Xiao Ying who have illnesses over there?”
Zheng Yu was momentarily taken aback.
“You guessed it?” I laughed.
“I had a feeling before.”
Only my father and I knew about Xiao Ying’s condition. There was no other way; she was too stubborn. Since she was young, she had set this goal for herself. She truly worked hard and hadn’t had an episode for a long time, so my father helped her out a bit.
Zheng Yu smiled helplessly. I couldn’t help but smile back; I had figured out the identities of both Zheng Yu and Xiao Ying.
Police!
Before, I had only suspected why Zheng Yu couldn’t tell me his identity and why he was so determined to help me take down Tian Ye Group! Why did he have such a powerful network of information?
In Kyoto, aside from Tian Ye Group, there was only the police!
And Xiao Ying’s situation confirmed my suspicions further; her experiences made her so vengeful against evil! Since childhood, she had vowed that bad people were her enemies! What forces could she possibly join?
Aside from aspiring to be a police officer, what else could she do?
“Lin Laoyezi knows your identity, right?”
I continued to ask Zheng Yu, who nodded in response. I knew that Lin Laoyezi had been cutting down on the underworld forces, but his subordinates were still quite unruly. For instance, Chen Ming had been secretly committing crimes even before Lin Laoyezi's death, which led to his expulsion from Tian Ye Group.
The other executives at Tian Ye Group naively believed that by reducing their underworld influence, the police would stop monitoring them. How could that be? Even though they had diminished their power, it still existed! As long as the influence remained, the police would continue to keep an eye on them. This was also what Lin Laoyezi hoped for—using the police's strength to keep his subordinates in check.

Zheng Yu smiled, and I chuckled in return, nodding in agreement. It was indeed true; I had been an undercover agent before. Revealing my true identity during an operation? That was like playing with fire. My relationship with Zheng Yu had clearly changed; I believed at first he was wary of me, but after this long period of contact, he had come to trust me and acknowledged that I was a good person—a brother.
We didn't talk much more; I knew what I needed to know. Before leaving, Zheng Yu mentioned that Lu Ying had called him before he arrived and explained the situation. He understood that Lu Ying had been drinking too much and was reminded of the past due to the bullying from the Little Rascals, which caused her to lash out. Zheng Yu also told me that Lu Ying's situation stemmed more from a psychological issue; she had been checked out and wasn’t mentally ill to a severe extent. He asked me to keep this confidential.
I nodded in understanding. I knew what kind of state Lu Ying was in. Normally, she should be strong, but alcohol had dulled her nerves and stripped away her defenses, causing her to recall past traumas and go into a frenzy when provoked. I understood the need for confidentiality; although it was essentially a psychological issue, it wasn't something a girl would want to hear about. Moreover, it could affect Lu Ying's dreams—she should pursue her aspirations with a fierce determination against evil!
Just as Zheng Yu was about to leave, my phone suddenly rang. It was Chen Ming calling!
"Hey, Xiang Dong," he said. "I heard you seriously injured a Zi Ge last night?"
Chen Ming inquired, and I frowned slightly. If I remembered correctly, that Zi Ge had arrogantly claimed yesterday that there wasn't a woman in Kyoto he couldn't touch. It seemed he indeed had some status. But for me, as the South District Boss, there were people in Kyoto I couldn't afford to offend.
"Yes," I admitted. "My girlfriend was bullied."
I spoke frankly; even if it meant hitting a brick wall, I wouldn’t regret it—damn that guy deserved a beating!
"Oh really? Do you know who that person is?" Chen Ming asked with surprise.
I chuckled and replied, "Who is it? Whoever it is will have to face me!"
