But who would have thought?
"Give me ten minutes." Yue Qing lay on the bed, completely unconcerned, dressed in a black lingerie set, sprawled out casually.
What the hell!
"Ten minutes for me? Is this some kind of joke?" Ni Ma's situation was so messed up. Were you giving me ten minutes to strangle you?
At that moment, it felt like a thousand wild horses were galloping through my mind. Ten minutes wouldn’t even be enough for foreplay! Besides, Lu Ying's situation had already been troubling enough. Every man likes to be with beautiful women, but there has to be a balance; I didn’t want to feel guilty when facing Linna again.
"Then stop talking nonsense. I'm going to sleep."
Yue Qing turned over, leaving me with an incredibly beautiful view of her back. Damn, she was so cool.
I sighed helplessly, feeling utterly disorganized. That night, I couldn't sleep at all—not because I couldn't release my pent-up feelings, but because I was worried. Although the police couldn’t find Linna, she hadn’t left Kyoto; she was watching me from somewhere.
Originally, after the incident with Lu Ying passed, I thought Linna would return when I saw her offering incense for me after coming back from Jinshan Jiao. But now that this situation had arisen, if Linna saw us together, she would definitely leave without looking back.
The next morning, I left early. As soon as I moved, Yue Qing woke up; I had already tested this last night.
Can’t you let me get a good night’s sleep?
Yue Qing looked at me with an annoyed expression and asked. I shrugged nonchalantly and put on my jacket. "You think I can get a good night's sleep after you kept me up all night?"
I ignored her; she didn’t say anything else either. As I got dressed, she did too, seemingly waiting to go out with me.
But I wasn’t going out; I ordered takeout instead. It was clear that wherever I went, this girl would follow me. To minimize the chance of Linna seeing us together, I decided to stay in as much as possible.
After finishing breakfast, I called Zheng Yu to inform him that I would be heading to Hebei Province for work and leaving Kyoto. I asked him to find a way to prevent anyone from misunderstanding my relationship with Yue Qing.
What I really wanted was for Zheng Yu to come up with a plan so that Linna wouldn’t misunderstand while hiding in the shadows; after all, Yue Qing was right beside me, and there were some things I couldn’t say too plainly.
Zheng Yu understood and said he would return to Kyoto from Jinshan Jiao tomorrow. He knew everything about my situation with Linna, including the fact that I had left her a letter in that small rundown house. So I guessed Zheng Yu would also leave a letter in the small house explaining my relationship with Yue Qing.
I told Zheng Yu to come by my room occasionally to clean up; he understood that meant checking if Linna had opened the letter I left for her.
After finishing up with Zheng Yu, Fang Ying called me as well and said she would take me to Hebei for my new position.
I agreed and then drove with Yue Qing to pick up Fang Ying. The three of us headed toward Hebei Zong Duo together.
"Xiang Dong, feel free to transfer anyone from Kyoto whom you find useful; it’s no problem," Fang Ying said on the way.
I nodded in response; coming to Hebei Province as Helmsman meant I really needed capable people under me. Zheng Yu couldn’t come along, but I could bring Liu Sen and Wan Fei over.
However, I still need to carefully consider and study the specific operational plan. Du Tao's intention is to have me connect with the other Helmsmen to switch allegiance to Hongmen, but I suspect that Du Tao would absolutely not allow me to actually contact Hongmen.
Once I take the initiative to reach out to Hongmen, Yue Qing by my side will immediately report to Du Tao. At that point, I would be finished. Moreover, Zheng Yu also has Qu Gui's people watching him, so I doubt he has any way to contact Hongmen either. What should I do?
I pondered this but couldn't come up with a good solution. Kyoto is not far from Hebei; after an hour, we arrived at the Kyoto Headquarters. Fang Ying called all the regional leaders from Hebei for a meeting and announced that I was the trusted leader of Hebei Province.
Hebei Province is much larger than Kyoto, but there are still four regional leaders divided into east, west, south, and north. During the meeting, these four introduced themselves to me. However, I only half-listened; these people were of no use to me. They must know about my grievances with their former Helmsman, Qian Cun Jin, yet they fawned over me as if they were afraid I would dismiss them.
I merely tolerated their flattery and wrapped up the meeting hastily, letting them get back to their own affairs. My mind was entirely focused on how to successfully carry out the rebellion; I had no time for them.
By the next day, I still hadn't figured out how to connect with Hongmen under Yue Qing's watchful eye. However, some good news came from Kyoto.
Dong Ge, as soon as I arrived in Kyoto, I went to your room and found that your sister-in-law had been there. Zheng Yu called me with this report, and I was taken aback! What?
Yes, your sister-in-law had come by. It seems she was furious; when I entered the room, it reeked of gasoline. She must have intended to burn down that place full of memories for me. But it seems she stopped when she saw your letter; I didn't have time to leave a note explaining your relationship with Yue Qing.
Zheng Yu told me this, and I couldn't help but chuckle. It sounded just like Linna's style. A simple guess led me to understand what had happened: after Linna discovered I was back, she stopped visiting that small house. But when she found out about my involvement with Yue Qing, she got extremely angry.
She grabbed a can of gasoline intending to set fire to that place where we shared so many memories; after all, there probably weren't many residents left there. Linna's stubborn temper could definitely lead her to do something like that. I could just imagine her furious expression.
However, she timely discovered the letter I left for her and opened it up. Upon reading it, she realized that the matter concerning Lu Ying was a misunderstanding and decided against her initial plan; she understood that I was not acting of my own volition.
Could it be that she would also deduce that my situation with Yue Qing was beyond my control? I didn't know. But I suspected Linna would certainly seek further confirmation.
Alright, I've got it now. I acknowledged this and hung up the phone. After hanging up, Yue Qing asked me who it was.
"Why should I tell you?"
I shot a glance at Yue Qing and said bluntly. "Beauty"—a phrase that could enchant any man—was genuinely annoying at this moment!
I know that Du Zong sent you to keep an eye on me, which is quite annoying, but you’re a smart person. You should understand how precious trust is. If Du Zong cannot trust you, then you are in danger.
Yue Qing looked at me coldly as she spoke.
I understood her reasoning. Yue Qing was the bridge connecting Du Tao’s trust in me; she was the means by which Du Tao monitored my actions. Thus, Du Tao had instructed Yue Qing to stay close and keep tabs on my every move.
"My friend, if I set my house on fire over a girl, would you report that to your Du Zong?" I said, looking at Yue Qing in disbelief.
She rolled her eyes and replied, "You dog of a man!"
What? Is she insulting me? Has she forgotten who was sprawled out on the bed telling me to give her ten minutes?
Damn it! I’m a dog of a man, and she’s a dog of a woman too!
But that sounded too strange to say out loud. I chose not to respond and ignored Yue Qing. I didn’t want to get into any unnecessary arguments with her.
That night, after taking Yue Qing out for dinner, we returned home to sleep. My house was provided by Tian Ye Gang, a villa that was reportedly once owned by Qian Cun Jin.
Once home, I collapsed onto the couch in a relaxed position, ready to play some games. Aside from declining various invitations from people in He Bei Province congratulating me on becoming the new Helmsman, I hadn’t done much else that day. I also needed to wait before dealing with those involved with the Old Forces Helmsman rebellion.
Du Tao meant for me to take down a few first, leaving the more troublesome ones for later. This way, if anything went wrong, the losses would be less significant. With fewer people involved, it would be easier for me to operate.
Wherever I went, Yue Qing followed closely behind. She truly embodied the phrase "never leave my side." However, when I went to the bathroom, she didn’t follow me inside; instead, I had to hand over my phone before going in.
I felt like her prisoner.
It was really annoying.
Just as I was getting into the game with Wang Rongyao, there was a sudden loud crash.
What the hell! Someone dared to smash my window?
I quickly got up and walked outside, with Yue Qing trailing right behind me—she had to stay close.
When I opened the door and saw the panicked figure standing there, I froze in shock.
The person before me was none other than Linna!
But beside her stood another figure—a man!
