He! He! It was him who hit me! Dad, get revenge for me! You have to avenge me!
The little nurse shouted, pointing at me. I couldn't help but smirk. Revenge? In Kyoto, it was only me who did the hitting; no one hit me back.
But that guy over there was lucky; he didn’t retaliate. Instead, he started lecturing me about principles.
Ah! I said, what are you people trying to do? Just because you have a little money, you think you're something special? Twenty thousand a month—what kind of nursing do you expect? Should I worship you like gods? And you still come here to hit people? This is just too uncivilized! You must pay for this!
That foolish man was howling. Yes, he could tell we were wealthy, so he was planning to extort money from us.
I laughed and exchanged a glance with Zheng Yu. He nodded; we had a mutual understanding. Zheng Yu immediately picked up the phone to call his underlings to bring money, insisting they deliver a substantial amount.
Throughout this process, we ignored the man who wanted to defend the little nurse. Didn’t he want money? Today, I would fulfill his wish.
As we ignored him, he kept babbling until Zheng Yu's underlings arrived.
"Come on in," Zheng Yu commanded over the phone. Instantly, more than fifty of his men showed up, each carrying a large suitcase.
"What are you all doing? I’m telling you, this is a lawful society! A lawful society!" The man was stunned upon seeing so many of our brothers. I smiled without saying a word while Zheng Yu addressed him: "Didn’t you want money? If twenty thousand a month isn’t enough for proper care of my sister, how much do you think is sufficient?"
"Uh, well... I'm just a director; if you want..."
"Is one hundred thousand enough?" Zheng Yu interjected.
The man was momentarily speechless.
"No, no—how about one million? One ten million?" Zheng Yu continued to inquire. The man was truly bewildered. Zheng Yu had money; back when he worked under me, I had let him earn quite a bit as an undercover agent—this should be considered part of his benefits.
Damn it! I sent my sister here for the best care, and you think you can play these games with me? You want money, huh? Brothers! Let’s bury him in cash!
Zheng Yu shouted fiercely!
Zheng Yu rarely lost his temper with anyone outside the Underworld, but this time he was genuinely furious.
With his command, the scene instantly turned chaotic as countless bundles of cash rained down on that man—fifty people with fifty suitcases, totaling fifty million!
When the money ran out, they started throwing suitcases—fifty of them—hitting that man who screamed in agony. Meanwhile, I quietly spoke to Lu Ying. Though she had lost her mind, her courage seemed to remain intact. It was as if she couldn't see the chaos around her. No matter how much I tried to talk to her, she ignored me, merely gazing at me with a distant look. She had become so thin, far too thin.
Eventually, this commotion attracted the attention of the director, who was dining outside. Upon returning and seeing the scattered cash, he was utterly bewildered and shouted about who dared to cause such a ruckus in his territory. After all, he knew people from Tian Ye Group.
However, when Zheng Yu presented his business card in front of him, the director instantly froze in shock. Tian Ye Group? Zheng Yu was their boss?
The director's eyes widened like saucers. If I were handling this situation, I would have shown them my business card as soon as I left Lu Ying here; that way, such a scene would never have unfolded. But Zheng Yu was a bit too straightforward sometimes; these people could be more disgusting than those from the Underworld.
"Tell me, who do you know from Tian Ye Group? I'll take care of him when I get back," Zheng Yu said to the director in a low-key tone that belied his arrogance. In reality, he was indeed part of Enforcement Hall now. As long as the other party wasn't Du Tao, he could easily take them down. Even though Zheng Yu used to be the South District Boss, he could still handle most of Tian Ye Group.
The director was dumbfounded. He was merely a psychiatric hospital director; knowing someone of a higher rank was already impressive enough. He certainly couldn't compete with Zheng Yu.
Thud.
The director fell to his knees and began to wail loudly, along with the head nurse and that little nurse I had previously hit—all of them knelt down and cried uncontrollably.
They were well aware of Tian Ye Group's power; they understood even better the weight of that golden business card!
Zheng Yu was simply not someone they could provoke!
"Boss, I'm so sorry! How was I supposed to know you were the big shot from Tian Ye Group? It's all his fault! He treated me to a meal and arranged for his daughter to take care of your sister! I told him it wouldn't work; his daughter is lazy and can't handle such high-profile clients! But he insisted you always called ahead before coming..."
So it turned out that Lu Ying only received care when Zheng Yu called beforehand. When he didn't come, Lu Ying received no care at all under the head nurse's watchful eye. Just by looking at how Lu Ying was fed moldy bread, one could tell how poorly she was treated by that head nurse's daughter. Perhaps living in such a nice place meant she couldn't even get a decent meal? No wonder she looked so painfully thin.
"Damn it! Why are you kneeling here? Go kneel before my sister! If my sister forgives you, then I'll forgive you too! If she doesn't forgive you... Do you want me to explain the rules about offending Tian Ye Group?"
I had been trying to communicate with Lu Ying for quite some time; she just gazed at me without saying a word. My heart ached; I needed an outlet for my frustration, and this director seemed perfect for that.
I kicked the director down to the ground, and he quickly nodded and crawled over to Lu Ying to apologize. But after apologizing for what felt like an eternity, it remained the same—Lu Ying still didn't utter a single word.
The director looked terrified; he seemed to plead with me as if saying he couldn't make Lu Ying forgive him.
I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. I couldn't express my anger towards Lu Ying; I needed a moment of calm. But this director had to be dealt with!
"Break his legs! And that one too—take them outside and break them!"
I pointed at the director and then at the head nurse standing nearby. The little nurse looked utterly terrified as if she feared I'd point at her next, but it's not my fault if her father didn't teach her properly.
Upon hearing my words, both of them let out pig-like screams and begged for mercy, but it was useless. Zheng Yu's underlings dragged them out while amplifying their cries several times over.
"Are there any other good hospitals in Kyoto?"
I lit a cigarette and asked Zheng Yu beside me. I couldn't bring Lu Ying along; it wasn't that I didn't want to, but having Lu Ying with me would be too strange, and people would inevitably wonder why.
I thought it would be better not to stay in the hospital anymore. Lu Ying's condition was stable now, so it would be best to have someone care for her at home.
Zheng Yu spoke up, and I nodded in agreement. I hoped that was the case as well.
After everything was settled, Zheng Yu and I took Lu Ying and left. As we stepped outside, I noticed the director and the head physician lying on the ground, groaning in pain. I decided to ask them a question.
"How about I cover some of your medical expenses?"
There was no other choice; we were polite people.
They insisted it wasn't necessary and asked if I was leaving. They apologized for not being able to see me off today and promised to visit another day.
After returning to Zheng Yu's house with Lu Ying, I stayed in a room with her while Zheng Yu called for a caregiver. She just stared at me, her gaze unwavering.
"Do you recognize me? I'm Xiang Dong. I know you weren't aware of that incident. I understand you would never harm me, so please don't blame yourself."
I sat in front of Lu Ying, speaking softly. I didn't expect her to recover immediately after hearing my words, but I hoped she would respond once I finished speaking.
To my surprise, when I finished, I actually saw Lu Ying's pupils constrict slightly!
She understood what I was saying.
