"What happened?" Jiang Han asked with a light laugh.
Piao Xue Zhu hurriedly handed over the documents to Jiang Han and recounted the incident of Chen Yue General's family being wiped out. Yan Dong and Cen Ya listened anxiously from the side, their worried gazes fixed on Jiang Han.
Su Qianxue had always been good to them, often sending fresh fruits, beautiful clothes, and various gems. Therefore, when Su Qianxue encountered trouble, the two women became concerned and voiced their request for Jiang Han's assistance.
"Yan Dong, notify my Elder Sister about this. Just as Shopkeeper Jiang has returned!" Piao Xue Zhu said.
"Alright, I'll do it right away." Yan Dong left the courtyard, mounted her horse, and hurried towards the palace.
Jiang Han patiently finished reading the documents from the Dali Temple. Just as he looked up, he saw Su Qianxue entering with a basket full of gems.
" Shopkeeper Jiang, I hope you can help me!" she said earnestly. "The incident happened so suddenly that I didn't have time to prepare a meal. However, I've brought some small gifts; please be a bit forgiving with your time. I will personally cook for you tonight."
Su Qianxue placed the basket of gems on the stone table in the courtyard.
Seeing this, Jiang Han slightly lifted the cloth covering the basket and was surprised to find various sapphires, rubies, and Zuzu Green Gems inside. He picked up a few stones to examine them closely and was impressed by their quality; even one of these could fetch tens of thousands in the market.
There were over thirty gems in total!
"Su Qianxue, you are very thoughtful," he remarked.
Su Qianxue looked at Jiang Han with an anxious expression. Over the past few days, they had found no clues whatsoever. Even after sending people to infiltrate Langya Wangfu secretly, they had uncovered no evidence.
Now, they had no idea who was behind it or where those elite armed members were hiding.
Only four and a half days remained until the time requested by the generals. I had just reviewed the documents, and the methods described were ruthless.
"Sit down," Jiang Han said quietly, gesturing for everyone to take their seats. He then turned to Su Qianxue and asked, "In a situation like General Chen Yue's, how many families in the entire capital could be wiped out without mobilizing the army?"
"The royal family, Langya Wangfu, Lingnan Wangfu," Su Qianxue replied.
The three factions mentioned on the Ming Mian were unlikely to be involved. The documents also stated that there was no one in the entire Great Zhou Dynasty capable of delivering eleven consecutive strikes—only three generals from Xia Kingdom met that criterion. Among them, Quan Gai Suwen was the most qualified; he had previously led troops against the Great Zhou Dynasty and had even clashed with General Chen.
As Jiang Han's voice echoed in the room, Su Qianxue furrowed her brow slightly. She took a deep breath, shook her head, and said, "It's unlikely to be him. The last news about him was from half a year ago when he was reassigned back to the capital of Xia Kingdom. The two capitals are thousands of miles apart; it’s hard to believe he would come just to kill Chen Yue!"
"Could Quan Gai Suwen have brought an armed force here secretly?" she pondered. "Moreover, if Quan Gai Suwen really came, it would require at least a hundred elite soldiers to wipe out General Chen's entire family overnight!"
Su Qianxue hesitated for a moment, contemplating deeply before voicing her thoughts. But even if this group did arrive, where would they hide?
"Langya Wangfu!" she exclaimed. According to the documents, the traces were already quite evident. Jiu Zhu and Quan Gai Suwen had both engaged in battles against Chen Yue and Lin Qingyue and had suffered significant losses.
Jiang Han signaled for Su Qianxue not to get trapped in her thoughts and encouraged her to take a few deep breaths to clear her mind. After closing her eyes and breathing deeply several times to calm herself, she nodded and said, " Shopkeeper Jiang, go ahead."
Jiang Han began outlining various scenarios: "The first condition is that Jiu Zhu and Quan Gai Suwen suffered heavy losses at the hands of Chen Yue and Lin Qingyue. Therefore, they could only be responsible for wiping out Chen Yue's family!"
Among the three factions on Ming Mian, it was impossible for the royal family to act. "You cannot wipe out General Chen Yue's family unless you've lost your mind; killing him brings you no benefit whatsoever! It would only exacerbate the current situation, and as soon as any hint of this leaks out to the ministers, you would undoubtedly face usurpation."
Since Su Qianxue ascended to power, she had not fully established her authority!
This led to many generals urgently requesting Su Qianxue to provide an answer within seven days. If Su Qianxue was indeed responsible for the massacre of General Chen Yue's entire family under illegal circumstances, then the Langya Prince would surely wake up laughing from such a dream.
Could it be that the Langya Wangfu and Jiu Zhu, along with Quan Gai Suwen, were in collusion? Piao Xue Zhu quietly inquired.
Impossible, the Langya Prince is too cunning to be that foolish, Jiang Han immediately dismissed this idea, stating, "Someone has died, and it all depends on who benefits the most!"
Although Miss Su suffered severe losses in this matter, the benefits were not limited to the Langya Prince; Lingnan King also stood to gain. He commanded a significant military force and could equally profit from the situation.
If the Langya Prince were to kill someone outright, it would be a different matter altogether. For instance, regarding Lin Qingyue, he had deliberately mobilized his troops to signal the generals. However, since none of the generals denied this, it implied their agreement with the Langya Prince's intent to eliminate Lin Qingyue's family.
He pointed out that exterminating Lin Qingyue's family was not the same as wiping out Chen Yue's. Piao Xue Zhu listened intently, nodding as she looked at Jiang Han with hopeful eyes.
Yan Dong and Cen Ya, unfamiliar with court affairs, could only gaze at Jiang Han with anticipation, waiting for his judgment.
The Langya Prince could not possibly commit such an act. If he truly wanted to kill Chen Yue during battle, a little maneuvering would suffice to ensure Chen Yue’s demise without a trace; there was no need for such drastic measures. Chen Yue was not Lin Qingyue and did not command a large army!
Lingnan King was even less likely to take such action; he had no reason to kill! The only possibility was that Jiu Zhu and Quan Gai Suwen acted first and then hid their involvement within Langya Wangfu.
Jiang Han spoke directly, naming names: "The Langya Prince may not have been an accomplice before, but now he is!" This is also why you cannot find these killers.
However, this was merely our judgment; we have no evidence! Shopkeeper Jiang, those court officials are demanding proof—they want the truth and answers!
Piao Xue Zhu sighed deeply, her expression reflecting a sense of melancholy as she said, "We need to capture evidence against Jiu Zhu and Quan Gai Suwen. But relying solely on us won't yield any results. Shopkeeper Jiang, do you have a solution?"
Yan Dong and Cen Ya looked at Jiang Han with curiosity.
Su Qianxue said, "The most troublesome part is that if there is evidence, it might not be easy to catch them. If there is no evidence, I will have an even harder time explaining things to the ministers."
