Lin Zhuo had always dreamed of becoming a police officer since he was a child. With many males in the family, the elder was fond of him, and the family business didn’t lack for his presence. He eventually fulfilled his wish and became a People's Police officer, only collecting dividends from the family business while doing what he loved.
He usually kept a low profile, spending most of his time solving cases, unlike Lin Qian, who was a flamboyant member of the Lin Family wherever he went.
When it came time to settle the bill, Yan Kongyue felt like she might as well regurgitate the meal they had just eaten: how could a meal cost over thirty thousand?
It wasn’t too much! In fact, Lin Zhuo rarely dined at such expensive places. He typically ate in the cafeteria with his colleagues from the police force. Sometimes, when his shifts ran late, he would treat everyone to late-night snacks. Occasionally, he would have meals with his family when he had some free time. However, having grown up in a life of luxury, this amount of money didn’t faze him, especially since he was treating their family’s savior.
It wasn’t much; I’ve never spent this much on meals over the years!
Lin Zhuo was unaware of Yan Kongyue’s past in Difu and thought she must have lived a modest life as a child, which made him feel a twinge of sympathy for her.
“Alright! From now on, if you need any help, just let me know. I’ll do my best!” Yan Kongyue didn’t feel like she owed him anything; rather, she wanted to show her gratitude. After all, her first grand meal upon returning to the human world was courtesy of him.
Lin Zhuo didn’t realize the weight of Yan Kongyue’s promise, but he sensed that this girl had some abilities and felt that she was kind-hearted—not just because she saved his cousin.
In the hospital, Lin Qian had just finished the soup brought by his family when Lin Jingteng said, “Son, your Second Brother has found someone to save you. They’re almost at the hospital.”
“Really?”
“Yes! Your brother just sent me a message!”
“Dad, did Second Brother say where they are now?” Lin Zhuo asked excitedly.
“No, just that they’re almost here!”
“Then go look out the window! Mom, is my hair messy? Should I change clothes? Should I sit up?”
“No need! You look fine as you are! Just lie down!” Shen Yun looked at her son with affection and smiled.
Ten minutes later,
“Dad, do you see the car yet?”
“No, let me send him another message to check!”
Knock knock knock! A series of knocks echoed through the room.
“Come in!” Shen Yun walked over personally to open the door.
“Aunt San!” Lin Zhuo exclaimed upon seeing Shen Yun looking somewhat haggard. “Have you been here all night?”
“Yes, I was a bit worried!” Shen Yun looked eagerly behind Lin Zhuo.
Understanding their thoughts, Lin Zhuo stepped aside to reveal the delicate young girl behind him. She never expected that their family’s savior would be so beautiful and so young.
"Let me introduce you to Uncle San!" Lin Zhuo walked into the hospital room, with the little girl obediently following behind her.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Lin Jingteng's lips trembled with excitement.
Lin Qian's palms were sweaty.
"This is Yan Kongyue, Miss Yan!"
"You all!" Yan Kongyue smiled, her lips curving like the sun, radiant and dazzling.
"Benefactor, thank you for saving our Lin Qian!"
"It was just a small effort; there's no need to be polite!"
"Miss Yan, please have a seat!" Shen Yun finally reacted.
