"Where are you, Song General?" Yan Kongyue shouted at the golden crack.
The neighing of warhorses accompanied the sudden sound of hooves.
"Here!" A half-transparent figure of a man and horse burst forth from the crack. The figure on the horse was clad in armor, holding a spear, and hovered before Yan Kongyue. The warhorse seemed excited to see an old friend, raising its front hooves in delight.
"Find her!" Yan Kongyue raised her hand, sending a mass of black mist flying towards Song Chenghu, the very resentment of Tang Yuan that she had previously collected.
"Understood!"
In the next moment, both man and horse charged out of the window, disappearing into the night.
After checking the campfire, Yan Kongyue noted that it had nearly burned out. Two bodies lay there, one male and one female, both charred beyond recognition with no hope of revival.
The sound of fire truck sirens grew closer. Yan Kongyue couldn't afford to waste any time; as she prepared to pull Lin Zhuo towards Gui Men, she caught sight of two wide-eyed figures behind her.
"Hurry!" There was no time for explanations now. An old man and a woman stood there, one injured and one dead; she couldn't let more innocent lives be lost.
"Brother, I’m counting on you here! The police will arrive soon!"
"Oh!" Veteran Brother finally reacted, but by then, both Yan Kongyue and Lin Zhuo had vanished.
Wang Haiyang, a security guard from a wholesale market, noticed that as Yan Kongyue and Lin Zhuo made their way to Gui Men, they hadn’t seen Tang Yuan or Gui Jiang Jun. "Second Brother, call Wei He and have Tang Zhi come here!"
As they searched while making calls, they reached the back storage area just as a scream pierced the air. Following the sound, they arrived to see Song Chenghu's spear aimed at Tang Yuan.
"Stop!" Yan Kongyue shouted at Song Chenghu and instantly teleported between them.
Roar! Tang Yuan's voice echoed like an enraged beast, filled with despair, pain, and unwillingness.
"Tang Yuan!" Yan Kongyue's voice was soft yet carried a mysterious power that made Tang Yuan pause.
"Your sister is coming soon. Don't you want to see her one last time?"
In midair, dark red mist enveloped Tang Yuan as her long hair floated around her body.
"Come down; Tang Zhi will be here soon!" Yan Kongyue beckoned to her.
Roar! Tang Yuan's voice weakened slightly as her hands, which had been poised for attack, slowly lowered.
"Zhi Zhi just told me she missed you and was worried about where you had gone to play!" Yan Kongyue took a few steps forward.
Lin Zhuo instinctively followed suit as Song Chenghu's horse grew restless, stamping its hooves as if ready to charge at any moment.
In the open space behind Tang Yuan, a person lay there, and it was easy to guess who it was. Tang Yuan's face looked very different from when she was in the Morgue; it had turned a shade of dark purple, and a black liquid oozed from the cut at the corner of her mouth.
"Tang Yuan, do you know Wei He?"
Coughing lightly, Lin Zhuo covered his mouth, signaling for him to deal with this Gui Sha quickly. Yan Kongyue subtly waved her hand at the side of her body, indicating for him to remain calm.
Tang Yuan lowered her head, as if lost in thought, making a clucking sound in her throat.
"Let her see her sister one more time."
Lin Zhuo nodded and instinctively glanced at the ghost general on the other side of Yan Kongyue. Song Chenghu and the warhorse were both semi-transparent ghosts, but a circle of golden light surrounded his body. Upon closer inspection, those lights were flickering little flames.
"Tang Yuan, do you have any last wishes?"
Tang Yuan stared blankly ahead; even though she had now become a Gui Sha, the wounds on her face were still clearly visible.
