Lin Qian and Huo Jingyu stood up and said to Yan Kongyue, "Let's step outside for a moment; it'll be easier for you to talk."
Lin Lang felt it was best to give them some space and followed his two brothers out the door.
"No need!" Qin Yang said, watching their retreating figures with a conflicted heart. He didn't want anyone to know about the disgusting things he had endured, but he couldn't bear the thought of that beast going unpunished.
"Qin Yang, do you know Lin Zhuo?" Yan Kongyue raised her hand to tuck a stray lock of hair behind Qin Yang's ear, revealing a scar above his eyebrow.
"Yes."
"He's a detective. He can help us catch that beast."
Qin Yang remained silent. When he saw Lin Qian and the others had reached the living room, he pulled off his tracksuit and removed his shirt underneath.
The fifteen-year-old boy was thin and frail, his body covered in shocking scars. Some whip marks were already starting to rot around the wounds, as if they had never healed.
Qin Yang and Qin Ze did not cry out loud, but their hearts were breaking. Their father had passed away when they were just teenagers, leaving their mother and grandfather busy with company matters. Every day, it was Qin Ze who coaxed Qin Yang into eating and kept him company at night. After starting school, he also helped Qin Yang with his homework. After losing their father, Qin Yang had filled the void in Qin Ze's heart; in a way, Qin Yang felt like his own child.
"Brother, that bastard has been poisoning Mom slowly. You have to find a way to save her."
Qin Ze suddenly looked up, realization dawning on him. No wonder their mother had been frequently ill shortly after meeting Xu Anping; she had even been bedridden for a while. The first time Qin Yang met Xu Anping, he disliked him immediately; there was something strange about that man's gaze as he secretly watched him. Over time, as they encountered each other more frequently, Xu Anping noticed Qin Yang's aversion and began to pursue him.
At first, Qin Yang resisted because their mother always referred to Xu Anping as Uncle Xu. He could tell that Xu Anping cared for their mother; everyone attributed his emotions to typical teenage rebellion since someone was trying to take their mother away from them.
It wasn't until their mother married Xu Anping that the man's restless heart could no longer be contained. He took advantage of Qin Dai Ruan's business trips multiple times when Qin Ze wasn't home to molest Qin Yang.
Using their mother's health as an excuse to threaten him only made Xu Anping bolder over time. Even in their mother's house, he found various reasons to invade Qin Yang's room and bully him. Every time Qin Yang resisted, it only fueled Xu Anping's relentless desire for more.
From that point on, Qin Yang's academic performance began to decline. Later, Xu Anping, as if awakening to his conscience, suggested sending him abroad for study. Qin Yang thought he could finally escape from the tiger's den and eagerly awaited his departure. However, just after he had completed all the necessary procedures for studying abroad, Xu Anping once again sneaked into Qin Yang's room.
