Huo Jingyu and Lin Qian both had silver Police Badges, while Yan Kongyue's badge was a space color. He understood that this indicated Yan Kongyue's identity was confidential, and that he held a high rank with privileges.
"Our chief will be here shortly!"
Yan Kongyue remained silent, extending his hand for the identification.
"Sorry, your badge needs to be shown to our chief first. This will facilitate our cooperation with you moving forward."
Yan Kongyue withdrew his hand and stepped aside.
Soon, one by one, people emerged from the building—several police officers and some seductively dressed women. Finally, a stout man and a tall, thin one appeared.
Yan Kongyue exchanged a glance with Lin Qian.
Lin Qian tilted her head and whispered to the nearby officer, "Take control of those two at the back!"
The officer nodded and approached a man who was on the phone, whispering a few words. The man glanced at Yan Kongyue, nodded, and then spoke quietly to the other two officers.
At that moment, two more cars arrived.
As several individuals stepped out, the man who had been on the phone and the officer holding their badges went over to greet them, exchanging a few words before heading toward Yan Kongyue.
"Hello, I am Zhang Zhenggang, the director of the Yangcheng Security Bureau. This is Li Dong, the Director of the National Security Bureau."
"I am Yan Kongyue!"
"Hello, here are your badges. Please instruct us on how we can assist you."
"There are dismembered bodies under the stone bridge to the south of the moat; send someone to retrieve them. The person taken away by the ambulance earlier is a direct witness; the murderer is those two we just detained."
"Understood!" Zhang Zhenggang replied with some surprise. He had attended a meeting in Beijing a few days ago and learned about the Seventh Bureau and its special advisor. He hadn't expected to meet this advisor so soon, nor did he anticipate that this advisor would be so young.
"Yan Dui, did you hear all that?" Zhang Zhenggang asked the man who had been on the phone.
"I heard it; I’ll arrange it right away!"
Yan Xiao Jun glanced at Yan Kongyue, a glimmer of anticipation flashing in his eyes as his previously furrowed brow relaxed. He had solved many major cases but still faced some without leads. He had doubted whether they were caused by human actions but was reluctant to believe it. However, hearing Zhang Zhenggang discuss the situation regarding the Seventh Bureau shed light on many of his suspicions; he was curious about how they handled their cases.
"Yan Consultant, this part here has concluded. Do you want to head back to the bureau or check out the moat first?"
"Let’s go to the moat!"
Yan Kongyue and his companions got into their car and headed to the crime scene.
One couldn't help but admire the efficiency of the police work; when Yan Kongyue arrived at the scene, several powerful floodlights had already been set up, illuminating the area around the stone bridge as bright as day.
The forensic team was well-prepared, providing Yan Kongyue with a specific area for the body disposal, which narrowed down their workload. Two police officers in diving suits were ready to enter the water.
"Wait!" Yan Kongyue quickly walked to the stone bridge and pointed to a spot. "Here!"
The officers, unaware of her identity, were about to ask Yan Xiao Jun when they noticed Zhang Zhenggang approaching.
"Do as she says!"
"Yes!"
Initially, the officers planned to search the area gradually, but with a specific location indicated, their task became much easier.
Soon, they felt a round, bulging bag.
"We found it!"
Ten minutes later, a black bag was dragged onto the shore.
The forensic expert opened the outer layer of the bag, revealing a thick, semi-transparent inner bag that clearly contained a dismembered body.
Zhang Ju noted that the body bag was well-sealed and had not taken on any water, allowing it to be transported directly.
"Alright, let's wrap it up!"
With leads provided and the criminal, witnesses, and body all accounted for, it was now up to the police. Yan Kongyue and her team were then sent back to the hotel.
