Feng Xing had already teleported behind them, releasing his deathly aura.
Lin Feng followed the method taught by Yan Kongyue, gathering his spiritual energy and launching it toward the center of the Little Ghosts. In the next moment, the Little Ghost dressed in military attire disintegrated into ashes.
"Squad Leader, we did it!" cheered a half-grown Doll Soldier, filled with excitement.
"Oh, this is fantastic!"
Lin Xiao was not to be outdone; he unleashed a beam of golden light. Lin Qian and Huo Jingyu stood still, quietly observing the movements of their opponents. Any soul that attempted to flee was immediately shattered by their attacks.
Lin Feng understood that Lin Qian was giving them a chance. Before this, he had heard from Lin Zhuo about their encounter with the Oni on the third underground level of the bar, and they had felt regret at that time.
Now, their wish had been fulfilled; seven or eight Oni had been swiftly eliminated.
A group of Doll Soldiers jumped up joyfully, finally having vanquished their foes!
"You kids are amazing!" an older man exclaimed, clapping his thigh in delight.
"No, it's you who are impressive!" Lin Feng stepped forward and gave a formal military salute.
The veterans returned the salute with equal formality.
However, after the salutes were exchanged, they all fell into a moment of confusion.
"Squad Leader, now that the Oni are gone, what do we do?"
"Yeah, what can we do now?"
At this sight, even the civilians would be frightened!
"Veterans, let's not dwell on that; tell us about your experiences!"
"Sure!" Zhong Ren straightened his back proudly. "Isn't there supposed to be a river nearby?"
"Yes, just turn around the bend ahead and you'll find it!"
"Then let's head to the riverbank! We can cook over fire and chat while we eat!"
"Thank you for your kindness, but we don't need to eat right now," several Doll Soldiers said with smiles as they scratched their heads. They then cheerfully ran ahead, waving to Yan Kongyue and the others: "We'll lead the way!"
"What army are you from?" an older man asked.
"We're from the military; our last battle was in the Xiangcheng Defense War. We were one of the last companies to retreat and encountered a group of fleeing Little Ghosts along the way. Our captain led us—over thirty of us—chasing and fighting until we reached this place."
"Senior, do you remember how you got here?"
Zhong Ren shook his head. "I don't remember. After we died, we were trapped here, as if bound by something. It wasn't until recently that this group of Little Ghosts began to awaken, and our bindings were finally lifted."
"How could this happen?" Lin Qian looked at Yan Kongyue with confusion.
Yan Kongyue shook her head. She had just observed the surroundings; there was nothing—no formations, no restrictions. For the first time, doubt crept into her mind.
"The fire is ready; we can start grilling!" Huo Jingyu gathered some stones nearby to encircle the barbecue pit.
Yan Kongyue sat down with several Doll Soldiers, her heart aching as she looked at them. They were so young, yet their lives had come to a halt.
"Do you want to eat?" Yan Kongyue asked when she noticed the Doll Soldiers staring at the skewers on the grill, feeling a deep sense of sorrow.
"Can we eat?"
"Yes, but you'll have to wait a bit!"
Yan Kongyue stood up and walked over to an empty space. With a wave of her hand through the air, the Mysterious Domain Gate opened, and a golden light poured down.
"Song General! Xiao General!"
"I have arrived!"
Two warhorses charged out of Gui Yu, neighing as they ran a circle before stopping in front of Yan Kongyue.
Lin Qian and the others had grown accustomed to this scene, but for Lin Feng and Lin Xiao, it was their first time witnessing it. Their expressions of astonishment rivaled that of Lin Qian's when he first saw it.
