As Ye Ling and Lin Yue'er were immersed in their whispered conversation, a voice filled with authority suddenly resonated through the courtyard: "The thoughts of Ancestor Ye are not something you juniors can casually speculate about." The voice boomed like thunder, instantly interrupting their dialogue.
Hearing this, Ye Ling paused, and a glimmer of surprise flashed in her eyes. She quickly turned around and jogged towards the owner of the voice, wrapping her arms around his arm and calling out in a sweet yet slightly spoiled tone, "Daddy!"
The newcomer was Elder Ye, Ye Chen. He wore an exquisite robe that exuded an undeniable air of authority. Since Ye Chen had risen from being a branch family member to a core figure of the Ye Family Ancestor, the aura of a superior had grown increasingly strong around him, as if he could suppress all the noise around him.
However, when faced with his precious daughter Ye Ling, Ye Chen's sternness melted away in an instant. He looked down at Ye Ling's youthful face, his eyes filled with affection and helplessness.
"Hmph!" Ye Chen snorted lightly, his tone carrying a hint of reproach. "Xiao Ling Er, you must not casually discuss Ancestor Ye in the future. Whether Ancestor Ye takes you as a disciple is his decision alone; you must not entertain any other thoughts."
Although his words were stern, the care within them was evident. He understood that in the world where the Ye Family Ancestor held power above all else, no one could defy Ancestor Ye's will. While Ye Ling was exceptionally talented, whether she could earn Ancestor Ye's favor was not something she could decide.
Ye Ling stuck out her tongue and made a funny face, clearly understanding her father's intention. Though she felt somewhat unwilling inside, she knew she had to abide by the family's rules and could not overstep.

The newcomer was none other than Ye Wenhui, the leader of the Ye Family Ancestor. He had just left Ye Xingchen's courtyard and entered with a warm smile.
His gaze swept over everyone before finally landing on Ye Chen. He spoke softly, "Ye Chen, do not be too harsh on Xiao Ling Er. I just came from Ancestor Ye; he has already announced that three days from now, he will officially take Xiao Ling Er as his disciple."
Upon hearing this, Ye Ling was instantly overwhelmed with excitement; her little face radiated uncontainable joy as she couldn't help but jump up and down.
Beside her, Ye Chen and his wife were equally thrilled, their eyes sparkling with excitement. They knew this was undoubtedly a tremendous blessing for Ye Ling and a great honor for the Ye Family Ancestor.
However, at that moment, Ye Wenhui's smile faded as his expression turned serious and solemn. His gaze sharpened as he surveyed everyone present before speaking in a deep voice: "Ancestor Ye has another command; the descendants of the Ye Family must prepare to take action against General Li Siyuan of Qin State."
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere in the hall became tense and oppressive.
Ye Chen's expression changed immediately; without hesitation, he clasped his fists and accepted the order. He understood that as a member of the Ye Family Ancestor, he must unconditionally obey the family's commands to fight for its honor and benefits.
Seeing this response, Ye Wenhui nodded in satisfaction. His gaze was profound as if he could see through everything.
He said softly, "Alright then, I won't disturb you any longer." With that, his figure vanished like a wisp of breeze, leaving only a faint shadow behind.
In the hall, everyone watched in awe as Ye Wenhui departed, feeling an inexplicable sense of reverence and anticipation rising within them. They knew that a significant battle concerning the future of the Ye Family Ancestor was about to unfold. They would serve as the backbone of the family ancestor and shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding its honor.
