After the industrial trade between Germany and the United States commenced, Germany was propelled into the fast lane. An Eastern espionage plan was set in motion.
Once Thomas Mellon Rockefeller had everything arranged in Germany and the United States, he boarded a cruise ship to Shanghai with his inseparable companion, Heidi, and the communication team from Ma Hu Group. Smuggling operations at sea had already begun; the first shipment of weapons had been delivered off the coast of Qinzhou, docking at a place called San Dun Port.
A batch of Garand rifles, submachine guns, revolvers, and a large quantity of ammunition were included, along with a thick letter sealed with wax. After reviewing the letter, Mu Tuan Zhang took out a book from the envelope titled "Soldier Training Program and Combat Strategies Against the Japanese Army." After a brief glance through it, Mu Tuan Zhang tucked the book into his coat; in his eyes, its significance far outweighed that of the weapons capable of arming a brigade.
The delivery captain also brought out a Transmission Machine and a Transmission Codebook, intended for direct communication with Shanghai. Thomas Mellon Rockefeller planned to establish an intelligence transit center at the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai, where telegrams from Guangxi Mu Tuan Zhang would be relayed to the Northeast.
The reception of these telegrams was part of an initiative established by Prince You of the Japanese Empire and his friend, Mr. Thomas Rockefeller Mellon, Special Advisor to the U.S. President, to create a semi-open intelligence trading center in the Far East, alongside the newly built Continental Hotel. This venue would welcome representatives from global intelligence agencies for exchanges aimed at enhancing worldwide security efforts.
Before leaving Germany, Thomas Mellon Rockefeller specifically requested some special items from the Gestapo and SS, promising that these would only be used in the Far East and would not appear in Germany.
While Thomas Mellon Rockefeller and Heidi enjoyed a well-deserved sleep after working hard through most of the night on the cruise ship, Ze Anzhi slipped out of Thomas Mellon Rockefeller's skin and reappeared in an underground passage. Outside, early spring was upon them; as snow melted away, Ze Anzhi changed into clothes he had prepared in four boxes beside the passage before returning to the surface.
It had been over half a year since he left this place, and he needed to re-establish contact with his organization. Previously, his various identities were separated by vast distances, making quick transitions impossible; using one skin could take months, leading to many emotional gaps. However, that was no longer an issue; he now had opportunities to use multiple identities simultaneously.
A large amount of industrial production equipment was being transported to the Northeast from the United States. As leaders of this massive transaction, Thomas Mellon Rockefeller and Prince You frequently appeared in Harbin. Moreover, whenever Thomas Mellon Rockefeller visited, he would bestow upon Ze Anzhi another golden identity. Just imagine—being a double agent for both countries; if he donned an SS uniform as well, wouldn’t that be quite amusing?
However, upon returning to Gendarmerie Headquarters, he was surprised to find that Lao Zhang's Grand Restaurant was gone! After inquiring about it, he learned that Lao Zhang's entire establishment had been relocated to New Continental Hotel under arrangements made by Eagle Commander Kinrin (who had been promoted). There, Lao Zhang would manage it; however, all profits would need to be submitted to Gendarmerie Headquarters since that building had been constructed by them.
It seemed that quite a lot had happened during his absence! After changing into Colonel's Uniform and receiving his credentials from Eagle Commander Kinrin, Ze Anzhi walked through the streets and began observing Harbin as it had transformed over the past few months.
Gone were all the checkpoints; now only neatly uniformed Gendarmerie patrols and police could be seen on the streets.
The streets had become vibrant and bustling, with an increasing number of foreign faces. Approaching the New Continental Hotel, Ze Anzhi gazed at the ten-story brick and concrete structure, admiring its European architectural style. He couldn't help but marvel at how much things had changed.
