Thomas Mellon Rockefeller established Purdue Pharma in the United States, and the research on penicillin was nearing completion. They were conducting large-scale production trials of corn syrup based on Thomas Mellon Rockefeller's suggestions.
Howard Florey and Ernst Boris Chain were both talented individuals, alumni of Oxford University, and significant figures in the history of penicillin research.
"Have you manufactured the drug yet?" one asked.
"We have laboratory samples," came the reply.
"Oh! So, are you at the stage of human trials now?"
"Due to a lack of funding, we haven't even completed animal testing."
"What are the results like?"
"The effects are remarkable; it can almost eliminate all known bacteria."
"Can you tell me about your conditions?"
"Our idea is to have Thomas invest, providing his strength for the advancement of human medicine."
"What do I get in return?"
"Reputation, and the purchasing rights to the finished product!"
"Nothing else?"
"Well, once this drug hits the market, it will be worth its weight in gold! Just the purchasing rights alone could bring immense wealth."
Thomas Mellon Rockefeller understood!
These two, besides being smart, were extremely greedy! After investing, they would only gain purchasing rights! Ha! You two have found a way to doom yourselves!
If Thomas Mellon Rockefeller were truly a wealthy man of this era, he might have fallen for it! But he wasn't!
"Can I see the finished product? If you two are just chatting with me and expect me to invest based on that, are you foolish or do you think I'm very naive?"
The two men sensed that Thomas Mellon Rockefeller might invest and excitedly took out a small transparent glass vial. "Of course, Thomas, we brought a sample."
They handed it over with great care. The cork sealed the vial tightly. After taking a glance, Thomas Mellon Rockefeller smiled.
Inside was some obviously clumped yellow powder, with varying shades among the particles.
Ha! These two are still in the primitive research stage!
This powder is merely a low-purity extract of toxic mold. It has some medicinal effect but not much. Moreover, it contains too many impurities, which could lead to severe drug reactions. If injected into a human body mixed with distilled water, inflammation might not even subside before one could die from a strong drug reaction or poisoning!
Do not ask why Thomas Mellon Rockefeller knows; he has conducted hundreds of human experiments on death row inmates using this pure toxin extract.
And now, the Penicillin extract in the Purdue Pharma laboratory has nearly reached that purity! The powder is pure white! Moreover, it has been registered as a military secret patent!
If it weren't for Thomas Mellon Rockefeller's insistence that it must meet these standards and that production must reach several kilograms per day before any discussions could take place, Purdue Pharma would already be renowned worldwide!
Yet these two greedy fools stand before him, trying to con him into investing with something that doesn't even qualify as a semi-finished product, and they only want to sell him the rights to purchase the finished product! Did they take him for a fool?
Thinking this, Thomas Mellon Rockefeller decided he would no longer engage in conversation with these two.
"Do you think I'm stupid? You come here with this clumpy substance and tell me it's a Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic? Take your stuff and get out of my sight! Scram!"
The two medical researchers had not anticipated that this young billionaire, famous across America, could change his demeanor so quickly!
The small bottle containing the Penicillin product was thrown back into their hands by Thomas Mellon Rockefeller, and with a wave of his hand, security personnel grabbed the two and tossed them ten meters away to the side of the road.
To be honest, such an overtly insulting act left the two scholars momentarily speechless!
