In the training ground, what Lai Gen said ultimately became reality. More than twenty members of the Gray Bear Mercenary Corps, except for Captain Poland and Big Beard Macorio, were gathered together by the city defense officials. Additionally, there were four urgently summoned Militia members practicing under the whip of several instructors, showcasing the indoctrination prevalent in this world; not a single troublemaker dared to act out. 0

After a long wait, three Ironclad knights entered the training ground, accompanied by thirty Elite Soldiers through the main gate. The instructors who had just been whipping the Militia quickly organized them to stand at attention. 0

"Damn it, you bunch of fools, get in line! Do you understand what a formation is?" 0

Under the influence of whips and fists, the Militia finally managed to form a proper line. The leading knight on a white horse circled around the Militia and the Gray Bear Mercenary Corps before stopping between the two groups. Dismounting, he pulled off his mask and handed his helmet to a soldier standing nearby. 0

John caught a clear glimpse of the leader: in his twenties, with silver hair and blue eyes, a high nose bridge, and sword-like eyebrows that exuded an air of nobility. With a wave of his hand, the city defense officer respectfully presented an iron trumpet to him. 0

"Allow me to introduce myself; I am Redman White, your commander. Tomorrow we will set off to support the front lines." 0

John didn't pay much attention to Redman White's words; perhaps it was due to having eaten too many flatbreads in his past life that made him drowsy whenever someone started talking about plans. Lost in thought for what felt like an eternity, he finally endured until the man finished speaking and turned to leave. As Redman's figure faded from view, those from the Gray Bear Mercenary Corps who were familiar with each other dared to gather together. 0

As a newcomer, John naturally gravitated towards Lai Gen. 0

"Lai Gen, you seem well-informed. Who is this Redman?" 0

Lai Gen didn't respond immediately but instead rummaged through his pocket. Understanding the hint, John discreetly placed a piece of smoked meat into Lai Gen's pocket. 0

Receiving the treat, Lai Gen finally spoke up. 0

"Did you catch his surname? His full name is James White; he’s the younger son of Viscount White. We’re all here to establish ourselves for him and strive for a title." 0

So we’re risking our lives for such a guy? John realized who he was really selling himself to. 0

"Don’t underestimate him; he’s a legitimate knight and a Transcendent. The two Knight Attendants beside him are also Half-Step Transcendents. In a one-on-one fight, even Commander Poland might not be his match. It’s best to keep our heads down and listen to him from now on." 0

Nodding in understanding, John recognized that this was no mere pretty face; he couldn’t judge people by appearances anymore. 0

Just as they were chatting, one of Redman's Knight Attendants jogged over, calling out before he even arrived. 0

"Who is the cook? John?" 0

"I am!" I quickly got up. 0

The Knight Attendant glanced at John's appearance and said, "Follow me." 0

Without another word, he turned and left. John bid farewell to Lai Gen and hurried to catch up. 0

"Lai Gen Ge, I'm leaving. It seems there's something going on." 0

Lai Gen, squatting in place, watched John walk away and muttered under his breath, cursing softly. The old hand was still clueless about what was happening. 0

"Damn it, that cursed cook! If I had known, I would have learned how to cook before joining the army." 0

Following the Knight Attendant, I jogged to a bluestone house not far from the training ground. Two soldiers in Leather Armor stood guard at the door. After exchanging greetings, we stepped over the threshold. 0

The moment I entered, John understood the difference between nobles and commoners in this world. Inside this makeshift bluestone house, there were wool carpets on the floor, oil lamps hanging on both walls, and a wooden table in the center adorned with various precious drinks, including a bottle of wine that smelled intoxicating. 0

Redman, now dressed in his regular attire, sat in a chair while a servant peeled grapes for him. His gaze swept over John, who stood below. 0
