"Get up, John!" 0

"Who is it, disturbing my dreams so early in the morning?" John rubbed his eyes, feeling like he had just closed them when the sun was already up. He was pulled up by his older brother, Redman. 0

"What’s going on, brother? Are you feeling better? No more internal strife?" 0

"Internal strife? No, not at all. If it’s not yours, no amount of effort will get it for you. We have a mission to take on. Hurry and get dressed; we need to leave." 0

"So urgent?" John quickly put on his clothes while a nearby soldier helped him with his armor. After a hasty wash, he followed Redman forward. 0

As they walked, John asked, "What’s the mission, brother? Why can’t anyone let us sleep peacefully? Who’s causing all this commotion?" 0

"What mission? A lucrative one," Redman said with a beaming smile. If John didn’t know better, he would think Redman was getting married. 0

"Baron Art has us accepting the spoils from the orcs. Isn’t that a good deal?" 0

"Haha, it really is. Transporting spoils—who knows how difficult that could be?" 0

"Is this job just for us two? Really?" 0

Redman playfully patted John on the head. "What are you thinking? Just us two. You dare to take on more? If something goes wrong, we can’t afford the consequences. Baron Art is leading; we’re just a guard team." 0

"Being part of a guard team is good. Just think about those transport workers from the Qing dynasty; they retired as millionaires." 0

"Come on, keep up!" 0

"Got it, brother." 0

At Garon Pass, a group of orcs watched twenty wagons standing in a grove. 0

"Chieftain, why are we giving these treasures to those humans? Wouldn’t it be better if we kept everything for ourselves?" 0

The leading Chieftain looked at his somewhat naive subordinate and felt an urge to slap him. If he could defeat them, would he not keep everything for himself? 0

"Enough! The humans are coming; drop the wagons and let’s go." 0

The Chieftain swiftly unhitched the pack beasts responsible for pulling the wagons and led them away. He wanted to see how these guys would manage to transport their treasures without any pack animals. 0

"Legion Commander," John called out as he looked at the covered wagons ahead. "These must be it, right?" 0

Baron Art raised his hand to shield his eyes from the sunlight. "Yes, tell everyone to bring the wagons out for inspection." 0

The soldiers of the Third Legion hurriedly pulled down the canvas from several carts, revealing the boxes inside. Baron Art cut a length of rope with his knife, opened a wooden crate, and the dazzling treasures inside made it difficult for those watching to keep their eyes open. 0

John and Redman swallowed hard; it was their first time seeing so much money. 0

"Goodness, how much is all this worth? If it were given to me, even if it were all Silver Coins, I’d be rich!" 0

Baron Art shot a disdainful glance at his two inexperienced subordinates. Although he had been just as awestruck when he first encountered such riches, it didn’t stop him from looking down on John and Redman now. 0

"Enough staring. Tell everyone to leave one cart for our base and transport the rest to the main camp." 0

"Yes!" They all chuckled as they pushed the carts forward. Even though they were heavy, no one complained of fatigue. 0

Baron Art personally walked to the front, rallying his men. "Come on, brothers! Let’s put in some effort! Once we get this stuff back, I’ll treat everyone to meat!" 0

Twenty carts, with over a thousand people, marched toward the back gate of the human camp. 0

As for the nineteen carts, they were not to be considered; those belonged to the upper Great Nobles and were personally escorted by an earl from the front lines to be distributed among all the Great Nobles of Blink County. The single cart being pulled away was the war bonus for the Third Legion, with each of the four legions taking turns transporting one cart at a time to avoid disputes over unequal shares. 0
