The battlefield was a scene of chaos and intensity, a far cry from the drawn-out and tedious portrayals often seen in television dramas. In those shows, small skirmishes involving just a handful of people could drag on for an entire afternoon, sometimes spanning up to sixteen episodes, which was truly baffling.
In reality, however, war was entirely different. Within the brief span of a tea break, John and his companions had swiftly concluded the fierce battle. At that moment, a few nimble Goblins took advantage of the confusion to flee into the distance, but John decisively raised his hand to stop the soldiers who were about to pursue them.
With an air of calmness, he said, "There's no need to chase them; let them go. It’s better if these deserters return to fetch reinforcements. This way, we won’t have to expend energy searching for the enemy."
It had to be said that this battle was surprisingly easy for them. Thanks to the formidable defense provided by their armor, everyone emerged almost unscathed. However, there was one unfortunate fellow who tripped over a thick tree root during the charge and ended up with a severe scrape on his knee. Yet, compared to the overall ease of the battle, this minor injury was hardly worth mentioning.
As the dust settled from the conflict, John did not personally oversee the subsequent arrangements. Instead, Master displayed excellent leadership skills, issuing various commands in an orderly manner. He called out loudly, "Everyone, secure your spears and thoroughly check the entire battlefield! Additionally, Team One is responsible for collecting Goblin remains!"
Once these orders were given, everyone sprang into action, each executing their tasks while maintaining an organized atmosphere. Compared to Kuiradi, Master undoubtedly exuded more of an officer's demeanor and presence. It was worth noting that their victory in this battle could also be attributed to the contributions of two Transcendent individuals who excelled in both charging into battle and holding down their positions; their presence effectively compensated for the team's shortcomings and proved crucial for John's success.
John crouched down and carefully examined the corpse of a Goblin. Its fingers were long and slender, but its feet only had four toes; it stood at about five feet tall. Despite its seemingly frail appearance, it was actually muscular and well-developed—its physical condition comparable to that of an average farmer.
Reflecting on this creature's astonishing reproductive capabilities, John couldn't help but sigh inwardly. With such formidable breeding power, it was no wonder that even some noble territories had fallen victim to these Goblins.
At that moment, Master approached John with steady strides after finishing the battlefield cleanup. He first bowed respectfully before rising straight and reporting the situation with a serious expression.
"My lord, we have killed a total of sixty-seven Goblins in this battle, forty-eight of which were males. As for the spoils of war, everything has been properly dealt with."
Before he could finish speaking, John suddenly reached out his hand; his blade flashed as he swiftly severed the lower part of the Goblin's body before him. Without missing a beat, he remarked casually, "No, it should be forty-nine."
With that said, he tossed the severed piece into a nearby sack carried by soldiers collecting their spoils. Then John took a clean handkerchief from Master and meticulously wiped away the bloodstains from his gauntlet. After completing this task, he lifted his head with piercing eyes that resembled swords and pointed toward a few soldiers not far away as he asked,
"What’s going on with those soldiers over there?"
