A piercing howl echoed through the air as a massive, foul-smelling Stench Mud Monster writhed its slimy body, slowly yet steadily crawling forward. Despite its lack of speed, its towering height of over four meters created an overwhelming sense of pressure.
John and Kuiradi pinched their noses tightly, grimacing in disgust as they stared at the approaching Stench Mud Monster. They gripped their sharp spears firmly, yet neither dared to strike at the repulsive creature before them.
Kuiradi's eyes darted around as a cunning idea formed in his mind. He scratched his head and said to John, "Sir, you are our leader; in such a crucial moment, you must take the lead! I’ll follow closely behind to cheer you on."
Hearing this, John widened his eyes in disbelief, wondering to himself, Why is this fool suddenly so clever today? Did he eat something strange?
However, he retorted without holding back, "Hmph! When did you grow a brain? And who was it that swore absolute loyalty to me? Now you dare suggest I go first!"
Kuiradi felt a twinge of guilt from John's scolding and instinctively took a small step back. But he quickly regained his composure and argued, "Boss, I am indeed loyal to you! It’s just that this Stench Mud Monster is too disgusting! If I rush in and get covered in that filthy mud, how will I ever face anyone again? Besides, with our speed, we can easily outrun it; there’s no need to fight it head-on!"
After hearing this, John shot Kuiradi a fierce glare. Although he thought Kuiradi had a point, he was unwilling to retreat so easily. He turned back to look at the increasingly close Stench Mud Monster and focused on the spear in his hand. He realized that if he attacked the monster with the spear and managed to kill it, the weapon would undoubtedly be covered in filth. Even with magic enhancements, it would be nearly impossible to wash off the stench.
With this thought in mind, John gritted his teeth and finally made up his mind. "Damn it! You have a point; let’s get out of here!" With that, he turned and sprinted away. Kuiradi followed closely behind him as if granted a reprieve.
Although they decided to retreat, maneuvering ten horse-drawn carts along the narrow village roads was no easy task. The drivers shouted frantically at the horses, trying to turn the heavy carts around as quickly as possible. Just as the front cart began to move, the foul-smelling mud monster crawled at an astonishing speed right in front of one of the carts.
It opened its gaping maw and effortlessly swallowed the enormous Iron Pot that hung from the back of the last cart.
"No! My soup! And my carefully prepared lamb rolls!" John cried out in despair. Watching his hard-cooked meal being devoured by the monster ignited an explosion of anger and frustration within him.
Determined not to let the remaining four dishes meet the same fate as that pot of soup, John could no longer ignore the nauseating stench emanating from the monster. He took a deep breath, feeling the powerful energy of the Knight Seed deep within his heart. In an instant, a brilliant Holy Light Aura surged forth from his source of power like a scorching torrent, infusing his tightly gripped spear.
With a swift motion of his arm, John hurled the spear like a bolt of lightning straight toward the mud monster.
