"Am I not your Lord?" 0
"Yes, no one said you weren't." 0
"Then shouldn't you all protect me with your lives?" 0
"Absolutely, if something happens, we'll risk our lives to shield you." 0
"So whatever I say, you will do it?" 0
"Yes, you are definitely our Lord." 0
"Then come over here! Why is no one speaking? Ah! Is my voice not effective anymore?" 0

John looked at the soldiers who were keeping their distance from him, along with Kuiradi, this useless fellow. Was it really necessary to act like this just because he had been splashed by that Stench Mud Monster? He instinctively took a few steps forward. 0

Seeing John approach, Kuiradi hurriedly stepped back and repeatedly tried to dissuade him. "My lord, distance creates beauty; this is fine. Your brilliance is too dazzling for us to approach." 0

That was what he said, but everyone was covering their mouths. Yesterday, in comparison to the Stench Mud Monster, they hadn’t felt how bad John smelled. It wasn't until they left the village that they realized just how foul he was—ugh, it was unbearable. 0

"Damn it, is there no camaraderie left?" 0

John looked at these heartless guys and walked back to the stream to wash himself. He still couldn't understand how that Stench Mud Monster could be so foul. Since late last night, he had been soaking in this stream for almost a whole day, yet the smell hadn’t dissipated. 0

The fish in the stream were becoming dizzy from the stench wave after wave; if people weren’t afraid to eat them, they would probably have enough food for days. 0

As he washed himself, John recalled what he had pulled from the Stench Mud Monster's body. Besides his own spear and that abandoned Iron Pot, he had also dug up quite a few copper coins—likely the villagers' personal belongings that had been consumed along with the corpses by the Stench Mud Monster. 0

There were also some scrap metal and rotting food. The only thing that piqued John's curiosity was a crystal vial; for some reason, the contents inside were well-preserved. 0

He opened the stopper and found a piece of parchment filled with dense writing. Unfortunately, John didn’t recognize much of it. 0

It wasn’t that he hadn’t studied hard before; he simply didn’t know what the words meant in this other world. He only knew how to speak from his previous life; as for reading, if serfs could read, then what would be the point of being a serf? 0

Moreover, even if he could read, he might not recognize this type of script. There were twelve human nations and various other races—who knew which language this was? 0

He felt it should be something good and tucked it away in his pocket to show to someone who could read later or perhaps to Master. 0

Master’s background was different from Kuiradi’s; he was a Wandering Knight—a fallen noble family—and might recognize it. However, there was no guarantee since even nobles might not know all the letters. 0

As noon approached and the blazing sun warmed the stream water, John stepped out of the water. After soaking for so long, he felt refreshed enough to face the day. 0

"Come over and pick up your weapons. Kuiradi, stop hiding; I have no scent left." 0

He called out to the soldiers to pack their belongings and prepare to set off, as the Stench Mud Monster had already delayed them for quite some time. They couldn't afford to waste another day. 0

Who knew what kind of monsters lurked in this wilderness? 0
