Binhai Town
John had just met up with Redman and the Oreo Knight, and the three armies briefly regrouped as they advanced towards Maple Leaf Town on the border of Blink County.
On the way, Oreo Knight, along with Baron Hyde, Baron Leon, and others who joined along the route, looked at John's soldiers and then at their own troops. The comparison was striking; without a doubt, there was no harm in realizing how inferior they were.
Seeing his own assembled force of a few hundred Serf Soldiers and dozens of Elite Soldiers made him feel proud as an old noble. He thought to himself that he was strong and well-equipped, wondering how Redman and John could even compare. Maintaining the balance of income and expenses in their territories must be a challenge for them.
But now it seemed that their forces were merely a rabble. If it came down to a fight, even combining the two baronies along with the soldiers from four knightly factions would likely not match up against the soldiers from Salty Fish Village.
Despite John having only four hundred men, their formation alone exuded an aura of elite troops—battle-hardened warriors with a fierce glint in their eyes. Their disciplined military posture remained intact throughout the long march, giving everyone present the impression of an unstoppable army.
In contrast, all the nobles' thousands of private soldiers, including Redman's, seemed like mere minions compared to John's troops. Even the Serf Soldiers dared not approach John's formation.
Witnessing this scene, all the nobles set aside their pride and no longer viewed John as merely Redman's subordinate; instead, they recognized him as the fourth pillar of this alliance.
Evening
"Attention!"
The soldiers stood in formation, listening to their Master issue commands. They set up camp on the spot while the cooking team started a fire.
A group of nobles watched enviously as John's soldiers worked diligently without any hesitation. They wished they could claim such a force for themselves; after all, what man wouldn't want to lead such an army?
Redman glanced at his own men and then back at John's troops, feeling a sense of loss.
"My brother, some of my men were trained by you too, but looking at them now… it's hopeless. Without your management, they're getting worse by the day. Sigh… it really is you who makes the difference."
Baron Hyde chimed in with praise as well. "Indeed! Who would have thought Knight John could train them to such a level? I've heard that many of these soldiers are from Serf backgrounds and have only been in service for a few months."
"Modesty is key," John replied humbly. "These are just minor skills; please don’t laugh at me. I can only train soldiers and dabble in Alchemy—nothing compared to all of you esteemed Transcendents."
Though John was humble in his words and elevated their status, how many present were not astute? Even among Transcendents, how many could face a Hundred-Man Team alone?
A well-formed army was far superior to scattered troops; their coordination was tight. Once trapped in formation surrounded by enemies, even Transcendents would find it difficult against an army that fought to the death.
Baron Leon looked at his lackluster Serf Soldiers and suddenly proposed, "Knight John, why don’t I entrust my Serf Soldiers to you for training? They can follow your commands regularly; as long as they can march properly, what do you think?"
"Yes! That sounds like a good idea," Mr. Leon added enthusiastically.
"Yes, Knight John, why don't you just agree?"
Around him, everyone was urging John, even Redman seemed somewhat tempted. These days, he had grown tired of the burdens posed by the Serfs.
