In just a few days, John made it clear to the nobles how different he was from them and the residents of this other world. Although most of his knowledge had been returned to his teacher, he still possessed skills that these mediocre nobles could not compare to. Using the same tactics that had been employed against him by his former boss, he dealt with these ignorant Serf Soldiers effortlessly, without even needing to draw a map. Any attempt to illustrate something was simply a sign of disrespect towards the Whip in his hand. 0

However, as they increased their training and slowly introduced weapon handling lessons, the speed of their march began to dwindle. At first, before John took over, they could cover twenty miles in a day; now, even completing ten miles felt like a struggle. No one seemed overly concerned; in warfare, no one wanted to be the first to arrive at the front lines. After all, arriving early could mean being sent out to face danger alone. 0

The nobles were perfectly content to enjoy their leisure time while John managed the army. They could play cards and relax, knowing that the war had been instigated by the Marquis, and there was little personal gain involved. They were indifferent to the Orc Counterattack War, believing that if they performed well, they might earn titles and lands. Thus, they began to slack off. Why bother performing well when doing so only made them targets? 0

Halfway down the main road, a messenger from Marquis Duvas arrived. The soldiers from Lai County were already gathering at the border, and upon realizing that their own troops had not yet arrived, Marquis Duvas grew anxious. What if Marquis Dabry from Lai County decided to act without honor and launched an attack? He couldn't afford that. 0

So he sent out a messenger to notify all summoned troops within Blink County to hurry up and arrive. While this message was relayed, it didn’t seem urgent at first; after all, they were nobles, and no matter how high one's title was, it was impossible to command everyone. It was your agreement, not mine. 0

But then the messenger added something that piqued everyone's interest: the first ten nobles to reach the front lines would receive a bottle of Bloodline Knight Potion produced by the Brink County Magic Tower. This changed everything; what had once been a matter of duty now transformed into tangible benefits. Unlike John's Magic Wolf Bloodline Knight Potion, which had its drawbacks, the Magic Tower’s potion had no side effects and could allow someone to become a Transcendent. Moreover, it wouldn’t hinder their training progress. 0

Even if they couldn’t continue their training indefinitely, just being able to train at all was enough to drive these lower-tier nobles wild with excitement. They urged each other on: "Speed up! Hurry up!" 0

"Can we speed up, John?" 0

John looked around at his eager allies and their enthusiastic shouts. He had no choice but to reduce training time and push all the Serf Soldiers forward more quickly. "Don’t worry! Our Serf Soldiers have been through my training; we’ll definitely move faster than any other noble army." 0

John was also curious about how this magic potion differed from what he produced himself. 0

As they quickened their pace, weapon training turned into marching drills. Thanks to John's rigorous training methods, they managed to cover ten miles a day easily. These otherworldly Serfs were remarkably sturdy; perhaps it was due to the magic at play. Even though these Serf Soldiers were often underfed—after all, nobles rarely provided enough food for them—just getting them about eighty percent full was considered sufficient—they still managed to run so fast. 0

This made John realize that he might have been too generous to the soldiers below him. Fortunately, he hadn't yet discussed the military pay with the three new recruits. He thought that the pay should be reduced a bit, perhaps to three Silver Coins for each Big Head Soldier. Even for the four of them, it would still amount to a significant sum over the year. Ah, this is the downside of militarism; too much investment in the army. 0

This doesn't even account for his ten subordinates who were Half-Step Transcendents, each receiving one Gold Coin per month, which totals to twelve Gold Coins a year. 0
