This resounding victory was largely due to General John's brilliant leadership. A smile crept onto Caesar Novich's face, his eyes filled with admiration. He had not misjudged John; not only was he skilled at training troops, but he was also a master strategist—a rare talent indeed.
With this thought in mind, Caesar Novich resolved to reward this remarkable general handsomely after the battle and to place his own army under John's command.
