However, despite speaking lightly, John could keenly sense that Redman was far from the harmless facade he presented. In fact, John understood that Redman had likely been biding his time, waiting for the right moment to strike back at their enemies once the powerful White Family had diverted their attention elsewhere, seeking revenge for past grievances.
John's sharp gaze swept over the entire map, as if he intended to see through every inch of land. After a moment of deep contemplation, he suddenly extended his finger and decisively pointed to a territory on the map, stating firmly, "Let’s start here!"
The Manhe Territory, located at the junction of the four families, was surrounded by mountains and rivers, which gave it its name.
With their target decided, John and his elder brother Redman set off with all the soldiers they could muster towards the Manhe Territory.
Standing firmly atop a large, solid rock, John held a finely crafted telescope high in his hand, his gaze focused intently on the distant horizon. He slightly tilted his head and made a gesture to the soldiers beside him, signaling them to pause their hurried steps and take a moment to rest. The well-trained soldiers quickly obeyed the command, coming to a synchronized halt to adjust their breathing and pace.
After slowly and carefully surveying the surrounding scenery with the telescope, John nodded in satisfaction before carefully stowing it away. He then turned to the waiting cook beside him and called out loudly, "Dinner is ready!" His voice boomed across the area.
It’s important to note that fighting was no easy task. Only by ensuring that the warriors had full bellies and sufficient energy could they muster the strength needed for the fierce and brutal siege ahead.
Soon, steaming hot dishes filled with enticing aromas were brought before everyone. John took a portion of food and casually found a spot to sit down, beginning to devour his meal heartily. Just then, Redman arrived beside him and sat down next to him.
As they ate, they engaged in one last casual conversation before battle. Suddenly, Redman looked up at John with a smile and said, "Brother, I’ve recently heard some interesting news about you. I hear you now have a total of fourteen children! And my sister Annie has even given you a pair of adorable twins! Why didn’t you mention such an important thing before?"
He then lightly patted John on the shoulder in mock discontent.
After hearing this, John hurriedly swallowed what he was chewing and smiled awkwardly as he explained, "I’m really sorry about that, big brother. With fourteen children at home all of a sudden, just taking care of them keeps me incredibly busy; I hardly have time to inform you about it. Besides, people around our territories aren’t very familiar with each other either, so I didn’t think it necessary to make a big fuss about celebrating."
For Redman, he fully understood John's current situation and the difficulties he faced. After all, in such a complex and ever-changing noble circle where interpersonal relationships were intricate and tangled, managing them was no easy feat.
"Yes, that’s true," Redman replied thoughtfully. "But don’t worry too much about those so-called social issues after this battle is over. Here, as long as you possess strong combat skills and can achieve great feats on the battlefield, people will naturally come seeking friendship with you."
After all, everyone would want a courageous and skilled partner like you by their side—especially in critical moments when your abilities could prove unexpectedly valuable!
