Since John took over this place, it had become his military camp. He unexpectedly received a summons from the capital, which he could not ignore. However, he had to consider whom to bring along. He was not entirely sure what the situation in the capital was like now.
After some deliberation, John decided to take three hundred loyal knights (Half-Step Transcendent), a hundred soldiers, thirty Transcendent Knights, and two Epic companions. He believed that with this strength, he would not encounter any danger in the capital, and he was curious about what he would find there.
As night fell and the lights began to twinkle, the entire capital was illuminated in a dazzling display of colors and lights. On both sides of the streets, red-brick houses and wooden buildings were arranged in an orderly manner, creating a unique urban landscape. The main street was bustling with people, lively and vibrant!
This was John's first visit to the capital, and the splendor before him left him somewhat awestruck. Although he had experienced the hustle and bustle of large cities before, this feeling was entirely different. It was akin to stepping into Beijing's Forbidden City; one couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence and bewilderment.
The ancient architecture in this capital cleverly blended elements from other realms, showcasing a distinctive charm. The exquisite carvings, grand arches, and towering spires all left John in awe. What surprised him even more was that, although he did not know the specific construction methods used, there were buildings towering dozens of meters high everywhere, standing like giants on the earth.
Filled with curiosity, John took a brief tour around the capital to get a rough sense of the city's beauty. He then made his way toward the royal palace and followed the official responsible for his reception to report at the palace gate. Along the way, he noticed that there were hundreds of others as well—nobles recruited from various counties.
Before long, John arrived at a large military camp. The camp was vast, with tents arranged in neat rows. Once inside the camp, everyone quickly found their places to settle down. At this moment, John realized that he was not alone in this military camp; many other nobles from different counties were also present.
As for John's subordinates, they were assigned by the officials of the capital to another camp nearby where John was stationed.
John's tent was designed for four people; despite being labeled as such, it occupied a large area of nearly one hundred square meters. Looking at the belongings on the other three beds, John knew that they belonged to someone else who might not be present in the tent at that moment.
