John's candid words truly took Natasha by surprise. However, nearing forty, Natasha had seen all types of men in her life. A slight smile graced her lips as she replied softly, "Oh dear, you are quite charmingly straightforward. But unfortunately, I am quite a bit older than you, and I have a lovely daughter at home who needs my care."
"Oh? Is that so? Then I must have the upper hand!" John said with a smile, his confident demeanor suggesting that he was stating an undeniable fact. "You see, I have a hundred sons!"
Natasha couldn't help but burst into laughter at his words. She thought to herself, This guy must be joking! Just looking at John, he couldn't be more than twenty-something; there was no way he could have a hundred children. It was utterly absurd!
"Are you trying to make me laugh on purpose?" Natasha teased, her beautiful eyes sparkling with interest as she gazed at John.
"I'm not joking at all, dear Miss Natasha. How about this? Come take a walk with me, and I'll explain everything."
As he spoke, John raised his glass and gently clinked it against Natasha's. He then tilted his head back and finished the drink in one go before moving to sit beside her. Once seated, he unconsciously wrapped his arm around her slender waist.
Natasha did not shy away or reject him. Among the many nobles present, John was undoubtedly the most handsome and capable. Being such a young Epic-level knight, he was destined to reach legendary heights and might even aspire to become a duke one day. As for Sanctuary—though Natasha had once dreamed of it—she knew well that such aspirations could not be achieved solely through talent. Therefore, she certainly wouldn’t let this promising young man slip away easily.
"However, Mr. John, you should know that I am already thirty-seven," Natasha said playfully, reminding him of her age with a smile.
Intrigued by her response, John moved behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her effortlessly in a princess carry as he headed toward the lounge on the second floor. After all, the king wasn't coming; it was perfectly normal to take a break.
Three hours later on the second floor...
Mature women are indeed different. As for John Ke, he had no intention of leaving so soon. Don’t think that John's earlier actions were merely impulsive; he had long been aware of Natasha's background. Her late husband was Viscount Belrumus, a noble from the West. If John could win her over, he would gain control over the Viscount’s territory—two birds with one stone.
Moreover, she was truly refined and understanding.
"Just follow me," John said.
Hearing his words, Natasha showed no sign of embarrassment; instead, she confidently sat on the edge of the bed and stared at him. "You’re quite impressive, but I’m not some naive little girl; you won’t easily sway me."
