"Deploy a thousand Royal Capital Guards and have them test the skills of these people," commanded John. "Yes!" replied the Eunuch, turning to leave with the royal edict in hand.
A low, heavy sound of footsteps gradually approached from a distance, resonating like the earth itself trembling. Each step echoed in people's hearts like muffled thunder. John's calm expression instantly turned serious as his keen ears picked up on this unusual sound. Drawing from his extensive experience and intuition, he quickly deduced that a military force was approaching. The dense and orderly rhythm of the footsteps suggested that this army was substantial, at least several hundred strong.
"All soldiers, don your armor! Stay alert!" John shouted without hesitation. Although he knew they were in the capital, where enemies should not normally appear, he issued the command out of caution. After all, one could never be too careful.
Upon hearing John's orders, all the soldiers sprang into action. They skillfully grabbed their armor from the side and donned it quickly. At the same time, they gripped their weapons tightly, their gazes focused and resolute.
The shield bearers moved swiftly to the front of the formation, raising their massive shields high to create an impenetrable defense line. The cavalry mounted their horses with agility, their curved blades and long spears glinting ominously in the sunlight.
The atmosphere was tense yet orderly; everyone stood ready for what was to come. All eyes were fixed on the edge of the Training Ground, silently awaiting the arrival of the mysterious army.
As time ticked by, a group clad in thick Ironclad armor gradually came into view. This infantry unit was numerous, estimated to be over a thousand strong. They marched with synchronized and powerful steps, steadily entering through the gates of the Training Ground and quickly forming ranks before John.
"Stand fast!" John commanded as he looked at the assembled troops. "Who are you?"
Confused by this unexpected encounter, John wondered if they intended to assess his soldiers' combat capabilities—such a notion seemed absurd.
From within the ranks emerged a Golden Armored Warrior, his face filled with battle intent. "Drop your weapons and switch to wooden sticks; prepare for combat!"
In full view of everyone, this unit discarded their weapons and rushed towards the weapon racks beside the Training Ground, bypassing various arms to pick up wooden sticks covered in lime instead.
