"Young Master, perhaps we should step back a bit?" the guard beside Mike cautiously suggested. This young master was no ordinary person; he was the esteemed Young Master of the Holy Dragon Territory! His status was incredibly noble, and he held a unique rank of his own.
Lord John had doted on his eldest son, equipping him with a full ten guards. These guards were not simple; each one was an Transcendent Knight, responsible for Mike's safety and completely obedient to his commands. Furthermore, Lord John had assigned a hundred-member Half-Step Extraordinary squad under Mike's command. Such a formidable force could not be compared to that of even some seasoned baronies.
Only the military strength possessed by certain viscount territories could rival Mike's soldiers, but who would dare confront Mike directly? That would be akin to an old man tired of life voluntarily seeking poison!
However, at this moment, Mike showed no signs of retreat. He shook his head slightly and said, "There's no need to rush. I heard that the Jester Beast has captured a group of Transcendent Orc Kodo Beast Riders. Soon, they will be transported to Holy Dragon City and handed over to my father. It was important to note that these Transcendent Knight s were all noble youths from the Orc Kingdom, each with significant status. The Jester Beast was large yet remarkably agile, radiating a strange and dazzling light as it floated in mid-air like a shooting star racing toward Holy Dragon City, leaving a trail of dust in its wake.
Seeing this, Mike unhesitatingly swung his whip, and his steed neighed before galloping away like an arrow released from a bow. He led a group of followers closely behind him; the sound of hooves echoed through the air, forming a mighty torrent heading toward Holy Dragon City.
Yet despite their best efforts, the Jester Beast's speed was simply too fast for their ordinary warhorses to match. In the blink of an eye, the Jester Beast became a small dot and quickly vanished from sight.
As time passed slowly and painfully, Mike and his entourage finally reached the vicinity of Holy Dragon City. However, the sight before them left everyone stunned: the once bustling city had been reduced to ruins, with only remnants of walls and piles of rubble remaining. The towering walls that once reached for the sky had collapsed significantly, with broken bricks scattered everywhere.
Outside the city, hundreds of ragged soldiers in tattered gear stood alongside John's guards, their expressions filled with despair. They looked haggard and their eyes were filled with sorrow and hopelessness. When they saw Mike and his companions return, their dim eyes suddenly lit up as if they had caught a glimpse of dawn in darkness.
"The Young Master has arrived!" someone in the crowd shouted, causing an uproar as people rushed forward to surround Mike.
Mike dismounted and looked at these people with a serious expression. "What happened? Why has it come to this?"
The surviving guards spoke in pale faces and fearful tones: "Young Master, they all perished in battle! Only we few were fortunate enough to survive—this is all due to the Sanctuary Champion of the Beastman Empire!"
In an instant, chaos erupted as everyone began recounting the harrowing details of that fierce battle. Mike stood there as his expression darkened; he gradually pieced together the full picture from their words.
Not only had his father John met an unfortunate end, but all other powerful figures left behind in Holy Dragon City had also perished without exception at the hands of their enemies. At this moment, only those brothers stationed across various territories remained alive.
In other words, the once-glorious Stephen Family had now nearly been wiped off the map in Blink County. This cruel reality struck Mike like a hammer on his heart, leaving him dizzy with despair.
However, after a brief moment of anguish, Mike quickly regained his composure and suppressed his inner sorrow as he issued orders: "Immediately send messengers to notify all soldiers within our jurisdiction to gather at once and retreat to Salty Fish City!"
At this moment, Mike understood very well that in light of such heavy losses, it was meaningless to continue holding onto their territory.
